Mothers Day is coming up.

What are you getting your mom? wife? etc?

I think I might actually become a cheesy mf and write my wife a song and record it. Probably get my kids involved in it too. (No Skeezy E shit involved here) :P

So, hopefully it'll work out the way I want.

What do you guys plan on doing?

My mom wants a book on tape so I'm getting her a David Sedaris CD set.  I just hope I pick up the one that doesn't have the pedophilic gay fantasy magazine stories.  I already ruined her Christmas by getting her the Amy Sedaris cookbook.  :(

I have to pay him back, but James bought my mom one of those Xbox controllers that plugs into your USB port. We put emulators on her laptop and she's been stealing my controller to play like Paperboy and stuff. :lol

The site said they were real and they were $32!  I'm taking my chances.

Just a word of caution: They may very well be real, but the key to an emerald's value is in the purity of the gem itself. Emeralds can contain large numbers of bubbles and / or fissures that are caused either through impurities or the cutting process (emeralds are pretty fragile). These blemishes are normally visible with the naked eye.

The color (or lack of it) can also devalue the price of a gem; looking at the photo, that color is pretty pale.

Normally with jewelry and gemstones you really want to take a look at it prior to purchase. There are just so many factors that can conspire to make even real jewelry look much less attractive than fake jewelry, which has the benefit of being factory-controlled and hence, look uniformly "perfect".

Trust me, my mother has been dealing with precious gemstones for over 30 years, and her specialty are emeralds. I've seen them all - from sub-carat to 24-carat cut stones.

thanks.  I got those earings a small emerald ring for me.  Can I pm you a picture of them once I get them, to see what they are like, as I will have no idea and I was thinking about buying a more expensive ring there.

Sure - PM me no problem, but make sure they are a) SHARP images, b) taken under adequate lighting, c) hi-resolution (keep in mind when evaluating a real gemstone, you would probably be viewing it under a jeweler's magnifying lens), and d) more than one angle, please, but at the very least, a top-down view. A side view would also be nice.

If you really want as good a valuation of gemstones as photographs can allow.

Just did a search. Have a look at this site:

http://www.gemphotography.com/

Might help - and good luck. Good stones should come with a certificate from a recognized gemological institute. Make sure you get one of those with your gemstone if you are serious about getting an expensive ring.
