What is your ultimate lifetime end-goal?
« on: May 07, 2008, 09:21:41 PM »
What is your ultimate life goal?

I find that the nature of the answers will vary by age.

For me? I know my path is not usual.

I expect that I will live till the year 2080.

I broke thru the previous social, euphoric and metaphysical frontiers as a teenage member of the Temple ov Psychic Youth and an employee of Trevor Sorbie International.

I broke thru the previous financial frontiers as a 20's to mid 30's entrepreneur.

Whats next for me?

To migrate from this world.

I know what it takes - money - training - involvement.

I am planning now to coordinate and fund my departure from this planet. It all feels so alien to me and I want to try to find a new quality of life in space somewhere. Even if I end up on a floating satellite. As it is now I can barely fathom being around most people - you can only go up - ascend from this >ocean< of bad DNA.

What will the state of the world be by 2080? Where will >you< be?

Some people want to get married, finish college, have some kids and buy a house.

These milestones are not for me - I was married once and cant recommend it.

I feel that migrating to space is the ultimate accomplishment and the way that I will 'leave my mark'.

What is the final frontier for you?

What accomplishment can you reach and then die completely satisfied?

The earth is turning into one big voitball game riot - yer either going up or down - some men climb rocks and glaciers - I will climb stars.

OR I will fail trying - but its all I have to shoot for now.

What will space offer?

If there are going to be any space colonies in your lifetime, they will be desolate, uncomfortable, and boring. So instead you should find your nearest cave, sit in it for a few days, drink your recycled urine, eat some tasteless paste, and then go back to civilization after a few days of restlessness. You won't "climb stars" in space, you'll either float around in a cramped space station or sit on a giant, uninhabitable rock, covered in some sort of dome. Of course, you'll be too old anyway, so this is all very moot.

Start with one.  :P

GET TO IT PD

And not sure, maybe some mystical metaphysical experience of some sort. Money doesn't really interest me at all, its just a means to an end as far as living day to day goes.

at 18-- I'm going to live minimally, go see tons of live music, eat organic food, travel a lot, and be perfect in all the way my dumb parents weren't!

at 26-- yep, can't wait until I get that law degree so I can make some fucking money, which will buy me organic food, allow me to travel a lot, see tons of live music, and on top of that, I'll try to be smarter with life decisions like my parents.  and fuck minimalism.

I want to have a ton of children. That's it. I want to raise them as best I can and be the father my dad could never be.

I don't want to leave a mark on the world. There's no reason for human life to me, I just want to be a normal nobody outside the lives of my family, and pass on peacefully.

When you plan ahead for something big, you're always disappointed. The key is to never plan ahead, that way, you're always surprised.

career goals (ignoring marriage, kids, etc)

1 year: enter medical school
5 years: graduate medical school

Practice until age of 50.

age 50: begin teaching

To get a good job and support my family.

It's really nerve-racking right now trying to find something I can do, especially in a foreign country.   :'(

I just wanna be a good mom. Is that weird/stupid?

Not at all.

My ex wife wanted nothing but to be a musician, a dominatrix and a drug addict.

While these things are not for me - and I parted ways, I respect that she knows what she wants and has found her own success/happiness.

Since we got divorced, I was selfish and did nothing but focus on making money, and she did become that musician (some kind of glam rock death rock goth stuff that tours in Sweden/germany - nothing I have even seen or know about)

Hhe I have no time for kids etc... but everyone has their own ideas of Oasis.

As far as the questions of "Why go into desolate space?"

One time back in 1998 I lived in a rental cottage in the dutch countryside for a whole year by myself. I had no internet, phone or television. I would ride a bike into the edge of rotterdam to buy groceries....

That time was the most memorable for me and allowed me the headspace I needed to record what I believe are my greatest works of recording art.

I could spend the rest of my time on a space platform looking down at Earth. No problem.

Hehehe I also do not wanna have kids because life hasn't been easy and I do not want to initiate someone else into the "school of hard knocks".

BTW - everyone here likes videogames - by default that makes you the top tier citizens of the world in my eyes. I would defend any fan of video games to the death.

People who are TV people on the other hand are sloths. ;)
