Just watched it. I rate apocalyptic disaster movies based on how angry I am by the end of the film. If we (being America, or mankind - same thing) lose and I'm pissed/saddened, it must be an awesome movie

Invasion of the Body Snatchers gave me the "fuck, they got us" feel. Planet of the Apes made me want to take my shotgun and visit the local zoo. Fuckin Cloverfield makes me want to enlist.

This movie wouldn't work without characters you could give a shit about. I thought everyone was awesome, especially HUD. He must have been an ancestor of Hudson's (Aliens).

Yeah I didn't like some of the unrealistic reactions to the situation presented, but I suppose everyone reacts to shit differently. Some people do it with humor. I myself just start fucking blasting. There should have been a black dude in this movie, outside of the guys who were looting (JJ Abrams racist confirmed). That black chick was omg hot, and basically looks like vamp girl

I give this movie 8 US flags out of 10

Hud was the only likeable character, because he was funny. The rest were disposable yuppie scum!

Pretty much, but like I said some people respond differently to shit. Some of the humor was so fucking out there that it was just unrealistic. "omg omg terrible monsters comin our way!" who the fuck talks like that

btw...JJ Abrams didn't write or direct this? I guess I simply figured he did because all the promotions I saw plastered his name everywhere.

I was indifferent to the plight of the New Yorkers who were being crushed by that lame monster. HUD was painfully awkward and unfunny. But the chicks were hot

So would I, and just like in the movie, everybody else would be telling me to shut up and that it's not the time for joking, and I'd be all "I'm just trying to help" and they'd be all "That's nice but be quiet we're trying to not die" and then I'd feel sad. :'(

it was very well done. i don't get why people hated the characters or the movie.

the effects were good, the overall plot arc was good. the POV was good until the end

i found it to be well worth my time.

It was the best movie ever released on my birthday. I remember having to see SISTER ACT 2 as a kid because nothing else was out. $:-\$

Cloverfield is really a theater movie. I feel sorry for you guys who have to watch it on a normal setup. However, if you have a baller-ass sound system, then you're covered. The audio effects in Cloverfield are insanely good. When I was in the theater I felt like I was riding a rollercoaster.
