Jesus, I really can't fathom the notion that there are people out there willing to PAY to sit through Speed Racer. Shit looking film total.

I mean, I get the nerd nostalgia thing, really I do. It's just that I can't dispel my, I guess you'd call them standards, and enjoy a shitty film because it is a remake of an old nerd property. If a movie sucks, it sucks.

I'm waiting to hear word of mouth from people I trust on Speed Racer. As much as I want to see it, some of the reviews are disconcerting.

The trailer looked awesome. I have no problem with spectacle summer movies if they are done well, and this looked like eye candy galore, and we know the Wachowski Things can spin an entertaining yarn when their heads aren't up their asses. The reviews, however, are by and large not so good, even for a spectacle pic. And in the first 7 minutes, in HD, the CG stood out more than it did in the trailers (as it tends to do when viewed at higher resolutions).

I'm going to see Indy 4 purely for Williams' score. I don't care if the movie is just Episode 2 with a whip: I will gladly bend over for anythnig that has a Williams score, especially somethnig so incredible and iconic as the Indiana Jones theme and it's great scores in the past.

Even then, I don't think its going to be as bad as you all think.

I remember Speed Racer being on TV in some sort of prominent or semi-prominent slot (possibly on MTV or the like) and thinking that it was one of those terribly things that people liked ironically. My fragile little mind back then could not have predicted the future waves of shit animu that would be worshiped.

Really, really enjoyed Speed Racer. A bit too long and there are some flaws, but I applaud the Wachowski Bros. for making a family film that doesn't make one-dimensional characters out of everyone and is packed full of energy. This is also shows that if anything, the brothers are good at crafting one hell of a climax. I don't know anything about cars, but I felt like a ricer!

I wasn't too high on it prior to viewing it and I'm certainly no fan of The Wachowski Bros., but it was really fun. Based on the theatre size on a Friday night, it will bomb anyway.

I can't take you seriously about summer flicks anymore, Federwang. Not after last year's Transformers tragedy. I will probably watch this illegally by paying to see Iron Man again, then afterwards I'll mosey into the Speed Racer theater. I would never pay to see it.

I don't really care if you do or not. Other people's opinions on films (or people's opinions about my opinions!) don't impact my own - I enjoy what I enjoy. That's evident here, because Speed Racer looks to be a critical and commercial bomb. But I still enjoyed it!

Indy 4 doesn't interest me at all, while Speed looks marginally interesting, though not enough for me to feel like sitting through two hours of it. So, Speed. I'm glad it's bombing though, might inspire the Ws to rethink things and actually do something worthwhile next.

Yeah, exactly. It definitely surpassed my expectations and I really enjoyed it. The only thing that sucks is that it'll bomb at the box office, which is unfortunate, because I'd like to see them expand this universe. Although, I said that after The Matrix and that turned out horribly. Maybe one flick is good enough.

Speed Racer was all style and no substance. It was eye candy at it's most sugary. Actually, it went beyond just Eye Candy and became Eye LCD or Eye Mushrooms or something. It's like the end of 2001, but through the whole movie. At the end of Speed Racer, I thought for a second he'd crossed the dimensional barrier and entered the Star Gate like Dave Bowman. It was wild. And I liked it.
