I liked Minority Report, although it kinda veered off course at the end.

Ah, well that makes more sense.

Not really a complaint with the film though. Cruise's acting ability, thankfully, has nothing to do with his religion. Because, in real life, he acts fucking crazy on camera, that's for sure.

i love the idea, i love cruise, etc. it's an 8/10 type movie to me, and not particularly mind blowing. things get interesting once it becomes "cruise on teh run!" but at that point progresses things get borderline meh

I believe I liked it more than AI, too.  I did enjoy AI, but it did feel kinda like a mess.  Minority Report at least felt like a solid, action-y sf flick with momentum.  War of the Worlds, now that gets a motherfuckin roll eyes.

I don't like Minority Report because it doesn't really make sense plotwise and because the minority report which is the focus of the short story doesn't even appear in the movie, making the title absolutely meaningless.

I liked it, but it has the recent Spielberg SF problem of "awesome first two hours, goes to happy shit in last 10 minutes"

I like the interpretation of MR's ending that

everything after he's captured is a dream he has inside his stasis - there is no "real" happy ending

Oh FFS.  Do we have to tack this on to everything now?

Only for as long as Spielberg is tacking on happy endings to his dystopian SF!

Here I sit in limbo, while Rudy and Hillary kick off their general election campaigns.  That's a depressing state of affairs.

The twist in the sequel to Mandark: The Movie is going to be that APF isn't real, but that "he" is just a manifestation of all the truths inside of you that you refuse to accept.

Scientology... ugh...

Average donations per member are USD500,000 to reach OT7 / OT8, and here these jokers are telling us how to help the fellow man and improve the world? Hows about donating that money to worthwhile charities or causes instead?

Like most Tom Cruise movies, I didn't care what happened to his character, so I didn't feel emotionally vested in what the outcome was.

I never said Minority Report was a bad film, but you called it one of the best films of the decade which is nothing short of lunacy.  Good concept, bad execution.  Wraps up poorly.  I agree that Tom Cruise's character feels totally dispensable.

Slam dunk.

MR is a good flick.

I dont hate it. In fact, I love it, despite Spielberg going all, well, Spielberg, in the final act. Otherwise, its my favorite sci-fi flick of the decade behind Children of Men, and probably my favorite Spielberg since Schindler.

It's an amazing film with a lot of creative ideas about what the future could be like.  Plus it stars The Cruise Missile.

Im also usually not huge on Kaminski's work, but this is the one film where I felt that the clinical, sterile, washed-out look of his films was a perfect match for the material. Really love the cinematography in this.

By comparion, he is a terrible match for Indiana Jones, which looks like shit from a cinematography perspective.

You're referring to the almost angelic lighting that borders everything in the trailers correct? Did you think that Kaminski's work was effective in Saving Private Ryan?

Not in this decade. 1995.

Yeah. And just the general washed out color palettes/filters he always uses. Oops, I forgot SPR. I guess that makes 2 films that I felt his style worked out well for.

I've only seen it once, but I liked it.

Same.  The computer interface special effects are the sexiest I'd seen at the time.  Iron Man's reminded me of them and are equally sexy.  Someone needs to be working on those stat.  I'm tired of typing on this fucking bluetooth mac keyboard.
