In this rage
in its thrall
I drop it
It was not worth it
It never was
to see red is to be
blinded
by ones ego
regret pours like a rain
that never ends
flooding ones mind
drowning ones
heart

Holy Mary, mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our deaths

Photo bodies have become extremely good at video. I'd honestly invest in a stills camera (like a Sony A7) and you'd be able to film 1080p with it. I think newer bodies do 4K. Which aspect would you say holds more importance (videogprahy or photography?). Depending one which holds more importance would determine the best body for you.

I've known their drummer since before they started The Armed, but except him and one guitarist, they all seem to move kind of fluently in and out of the band. More of a collective than a band. Kara wasnt on anything until their last album either, but she is always touring with them and performing with them now, and that big fucking front guy wasnt there for the first albums either.

Show was hilarious. They had been told by security, to move some tables with champagne that they put up just before the show started.

Singer tried to convince the security of letting them do it by sweet talking them. But he lost that discussion pretty fast, so he gave them all hugs and told them to watch out, cause he would be in the pit a lot. Then about 1 min into the show, he throws the chairs back into the crowd from the stage, attemps to crowd surf by jumping down onto two people in front who had no idea, and just fell to the ground with him. He then grabs some boy and ran around with him like this  :lol

I also ended up singing pretty much all of Liar for them. Gave me the mic and then just ran off into the crowd.  :lol

Experimenting with split toning. Cut my teeth on Black and White and now using the tone curve skills I learned from it and applying it to other forms of monochromism. I developed an affection for black and red so I decided to go with that. The highlights have a touch of orange since pure white didn't gel too well with the red tones. It needs a sort of roll off into pure white otherwise it's jarring.

Been using a film camera the past three months.

Today I got my first real deal, non point and shoot digital camera, a Fuji X-T20.

Wow.

For months I've seen so many fellow film users shitting on digital, talking about how film has more "soul". Today was amazing. I got a 4gb sd card, set my Fuji X-T20 to viewfinder only, and treated every shot as if it counted, like film. I didn't look at the spoils for the day until I got home and plugged my SD card into my computer. What I found, shocked me.

One of the thrills of film is that you don't know what you're going to get. Well, I had the same exact experience with my Fuji tonight. Over half of the frames taken were pitch black (I shot at night) despite 1600 ISO and 60 shutter speed, which I'm confident would have turned up an image in film. Just because it's digital doesn't mean you'll have a guaranteed result. What's more, I was transfixed by not only the accuracy of the colors but the slight grain added. It wasn't completely unpredictable grain but it had its own character. It definitely had "soul".

Today's adventure was like getting your film rolls back after development. It has just as much excitement yet people attribute this only to film.

Photography fucking rocks.

My favorite pic from the spoils. It's not good and is honestly more of a snapshot but it has a good figure to ground minimalism, which was my goal.

I shot entirely manual today. It's weird not being able to set aperture like usual. Still figuring this camera out and I love it. The colors are stupendous and I know that once I figure this bad boy out I'm going to eat.

Turns out my f stop was 5.6!

No wonder I took in little light. But now I know what 5.6 at night looks like. Something I would have never tried doing with film.

I learned how to change aperture on my camera and it's weird. I don't have full control over it. At 60 shutter speed it would only go as far down as f5.6. what the Christ. 60s is a standard speed at night so I'm surprised I can't set it to like, 2.something at least.

The lens the cam came with is a zoom. Definitely not as comfy as my Prime lenses. I stuck zoom to 35 and used my feet as a zoom instead, just like a prime. I felt in my element there.

I ordered a Fujinon 23mm f2 WR lens and tbh with that lens I won't need another for...months. thankfully comes with an aperture ring. Changing aperture via that dial in my camera is weird.

Could use thoughts of the images coming out of my camera. This is my first real digital camera and I'm more experienced with film. I really want some thoughts.

Also turns out my aperture is completely limited by lens. The kit lens my camera came with sucks butt and I hate it. Can't wait to get my 23mm and sell it. Also my aperture is limited depending on what length I shoot at, which is why camera aperture last night was stuck on f5.6. Weird ass shit.

The pics I'll be using are mostly street.

adsfsadf

Thoughts on colors, sharpness, quality;etc? These are from high quality jpgs straight out the camera with nothing added.

What's the use of HDR?

edit: for the record, my usual style is more in line with the second photo and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

I truly dislike the lens. It's hard for me to get things in focus.

It has made a very, very bad first impression with zoom lenses. Thankfully 18-55 seems much, much better. I'll get that down the line. Say, in six months.

Edit: turns out it's the diopter! My viewfinder looks great now. Now I can truly what is in focus

After months of film I truly think most digital shooters are spoiled. My camera can go over 10k ISO for instance. So many people are trying to pressure me into emphasizing post. Nah, nah. I'm good. I think I did a great job going with Fuji.
