I like the photos you have taken, they are well framed and interesting to look at for the most part.
However, as far as photojournalism goes, I don't think you really had a clear idea of what story you were trying to tell me.
Is it about the bar itself? It's out-of-place nature in Texas? Or was it about the people who own it? What are two Canadians doing in Texas? There is also a story about how a hockey focussed bar has survived since 2006 in a place not known for hockey fans. There is also a story about the food and its uniqueness compared to typical Texan fare.
There are stories I want to know here, but you have only shown me glimpses and haven't told me enough about any of them to satisfy my curiosity.
A way to improve your storytelling would have been to use the same concepts as normal journalism. Use the inverted pyramid to tell me the broad story first, and then get more targeted and specific with each shot. You also need to tell me the
who, what, when, where, how and why, both with the photos and the words.
I also think photo captions often go unappreciated for the context they can add to a photo. Make sure they are clear and concise and tell their own story about what is happening in the photo. Also, check your spelling and grammar.
This is probably your best shot of the bunch
https://i.imgur.com/Ifj7dHf.jpgIt's got a story of its own and tells me a lot about the people in it. Who they are and what they are doing in the bar. I see locals and friends in their usual spots, watching the game together. I see familiarity and routine, but I also see relaxation with a little bit of anxiety about the game.
Hope that feedback was helpful. It's all meant to be constructive, so I hope it doesn't come off as too harsh.
