Good director, decent writer (he wrote The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Gladiator... but also wrote Star Trek: Nemesis).  We'll see what happens.

Depending how much money Universal throws at this, it could be good.  I doubt Verbinski would take on anything small time after finishing Pirates for Disney.  We'll see.

He didn't write Gladiator, he only did a touch-up job on that.

Probably the best nest to come from a video game related film in a while.

I'm down.  Pirates is at least eye candy and mostly entertaining and Logan is at least a decent writer.  Plus, the premise is way more interesting than most game to movie adaptations.  There's a lot to work with within that universe.

He would actually have to change a significant portion of the script to get a credit.  WGA mandates that entire measured percentage of the script must be altered at that point.

All that's left is the Jerry Bruckheimer producer credit.

I am kinda surprised that Ken Levine isn't involved in any significant way.  He fancies himself a writer and he sure did a good hype job on Bioshock's story when it was time to promote the game.

Everything I've read indicates he was responsible for some chunks of epic dialogue Ridley Scott wanted added in (I know the "I will have my vengeance in this world, or the next" speech is his work) but the whole story, structure, and characters were already well in place by the time he came in.

bioshock is awesome, but it is a good example of why an author should always build a solid ending to his/her story first

otherwise you write yourself into a corner and end up cramming the amazing colossal man in there

Maybe my font wasn't big enough:

It started out great but by the end it felt like Red Faction and not in a campy good way.  It aimed big but never really capitalized on it in the end which is what you really need to do when you hype something like Bioshock.  Also, the errands were incredibly boring and a poor way of sucking a few more minutes out of the game.  Maybe Bioshock 2 will be the game Bioshock set out to be.

It did have a damn good twist though.
