So, today I have a meeting in DC at 6. It'll take me about 5 hours by bus to get there. Getting back in a pain in the ass, though. Likely I'd have to take Amtrak back and then bug someone to pick me up at 2 AM.

This meeting is sort of important. I'm doing social network and internet marketing at my company and the guy I'm supposed to meet with is a sort of minor god in that arena. His meeting with us is an enormous favor- His usual price per gig is more than I make in a year. The only reason he's decided to meet with us is because our VP of Sales' brother works at Ford and talked him into it.

So I was all ready to suck it up and go, even excited. Tommorrow is our Mother's Day get together and so I needed to be back here by noon and somehow bake a pie and marinate shrimp- I planned to do this from like 3-5 AM and then sleep until 11.

But then yesterday I got pretty sick. Fever, muscle aches, a really brutal headache that left me pretty much bedridden. Today I feel maybe 60% better, but my guts feel twisted and the headache is coming back. Should I suck it up and go to this meeting and not go to bed for like 24 hours or should I just stay home, rest up and bake at a regular hour?

Yeah, suck it up and go buddy.  Sounds like a big deal to just blow off.

Go to the meeting.  Sleep on the 5 hour commute.  Cater the food. You'll be fine.

I keep thinking I should go, but I barely got out of bed this morning. I'm someone who doesn't usually abide sickness, so I'm kind of shocked at how ill I am. I'm not sure. Ugh.

You gotta do it man.  That's not a good business choice.  He's doing you guys a huge favor.  Unless you can get someone to stand in for you, I'd say suck it up at all cost.

Someone else is already going. Our VP of Sales is going. But he's not really involved in marketing

Now that the vomiting has begun, there's no way I'm going. I feel bad about this, but it'd be insane for me to go.

I would encourage you to come to DC, but apparently you don't have time to let me get all up in them guts.  I don't want to fuck a sickie anyway.

It is. I really want to go, I feel like it's a major mistake for me not to go, but I really can't imagine leaving the house let alone making a 14 hour excursion to DC.

I sent along a list of talking points to the VP in lieu of my being there and I actually got in touch with the guy that I was supposed to me through Twitter. Maybe we can do a brief e-mail dialouge instead.

You should do it by phone so he can hear you puking, it'd be awesome.

"so my next point is...1 second...*HURRRLL*...yes now as I was saying..."
