The artwork we've published comes from a pitch document we got our hands on in the early part of 2008. Since then, sources have told us the game's artwork has advanced considerably. Despite this artwork not being reflective of the game's current standing, we've decided to share it so fans can get a look at what Factor 5 has experimented with. The last nugget of information we have to share with you is in regards to the game's plot. At the time of the document's writing, Factor 5 had imagined a plot starring a grown-up, adult Pit, who is "cursed for thousands of years for a crime and becomes a 'fallen angel.'" The pitch adds that "a tattoo on Pit's arm bears the inscription of Pit's crime."

He mostly either looks like an extra in the Disney movie Hercules, or a cross between Captain N and Warrior Within-era Price from PoP. :sob  Someone please debunk these shots as some college student's scribbles? Please?

I'll never understand the yearning for a new Kid Icarus. The NES game was a miserable piece of shit, and a spot of shit on NES history.

Fuck this shitty bullshit.

And fuck Kombo for crediting it even as much as a rumor.

My exact sentiments.

The GB game was better.

And yeah, this looks like spotty fanart at best.

People aren't yearning for a new Kid Icarus. Nintendo fanboys are hoping for a hXc gritty God of War for the Wii, and they masturbate furiously at the dream of Nintendo revamping a "kiddy" IP into something "dark" and "mature" and proving all of Nintendo's meanie doubters wrong.

Which is why we get horrifically hideous fakes such as this.

Not with you there.  I was a huge Kid Icarus fan back in the days of the NES.  In fact, I asked for and received the game for my birthday half a year before I even got an NES.  I used to take it over to friend's houses and abuse their hospitality to play it, and then write down the password and continue it at other places.  I loved having a platform game with an actual progression structure beyond 'next level'... it had currency, a life bar that you could buy upgrades to, items, etc.

The GBA one was not bad but was balanced a bit too easy IMO.  It also seemed a lot shorter cause you never had to stop and grind like you did in the NES original.  That said, the elimination of grinding was good, they just should have increased the length to compensate.  Even adjusting for my vastly improved skills and the more lenient platforming mechanics, it didn't last long enough.  I blew through the GBA one the first day I had it: even after I had memorized the NES original and owned it for months, it was still tough to get through in one day.
