Is there only one WiiWare game a week? Snore. It is going to be a while before something worth downloading is released.
No, there's also Critter Roundup for 1000 points.  :-\

Wow, Nintendo really needs to reboot this franchise. This is the same game I've played three or four times already.  >:(

This is the rehash to end all rehashes. I mean every single locale from generic Zelda universe is here and every single Link's Equipment Item.

I think you should just to stop playing it and sell it already. It's obvious it isn't your cup of tea :(

Oh, I'm liking it, I'm just not loving it like, say, the original. I have higher expectations of Nintendo titles, but this feels pretty anonymous.

TP is pretty much OoT2. Don't expect any amazing, new things from it. The only new gimmick is the wolf thing and they fucked it.

I was just:

- longing for a new Zelda game
- smh from disgust at Wind Waker "dungeons" (pathetic)

And TP hit the spot in both of the above.

For me it is pretty much the best Zelda ever, even though I know and I admit that Wind Waker looked 10 times better.

Baloney! Wind Waker's first three dungeons (not counting that awful stealth dungeon) are better designed than any of Twilight Princess's dungeons. Admittedly, the tag-team dungeons' novelty wore off quickly (and became tiresome), so I will give the nod to Arbiter's Grounds, the Temple of Time, and the Sky Temple over them. But Jesus Christ the first three dungeons in TP were GOD AWFUL, especially the water temple.

I don't know why I decided to attempt to play Red Steel again, but I still am in awe of how terrible this game actually is.

You're only hurting yourself every time you play that game.

I still can't believe that Ubisoft dumped nearly $15 million into that mess.

Every once in a while I think to myself "Red Steel can't be as bad as I remember it was, i'm gonna try it out" only to stop playing after 10 minutes because the controls, graphics, and dialog are all so awful.  Good news is that I will finally finish it in about 5 years if I keep this up.

Bah. The Fire Temple was extremely meh, but the forest and water temple (aside from the boss fight) were pretty damn good. Granted, I think I would give Tower of the Gods the nod over Lakebed temple. Also, what was WW's first dungeon? Been ages since I played it..

I've played pretty much all Zeldas and TP had by far the best beginning, I don't get the hate. They introduce you to stuff you'll need later, at the same time establishing the kid characters and an incentive to get into the first dungeon. Beats getting a sword + shield and getting summoned immediately

I actually think Ocarina of Time probably has the one of the slowest starts of any Zelda game.  First time around it was probably OK, but when I've played the game again it's pretty damn boring until you get to Hyrule Field.

TP's start isn't too bad.  It's about on par with WW for me, but way behind MM's start which was pretty damn awesome.

What? There's nothing in OoT that's as boring or time consuming as TP's tear fetch quests.

I'm comparing OoT's starting village (Kokiri Forest I think it's called?) to Ordon Village in particular.  First time around was fine, but I find Kokiri Forest and the Deku tree a major chore to get through when starting the game again.

Ordon isn't too bad, and thankfully it's not too long before Link gets pulled into the Twilight which I like.

If we are only matching up exclusive games here, then I would say that the Wii does only really have Mario Galaxy as it's one great title.  I would also argue that Link's Crossbow Training is another one of the top tier Wii games out there.  And other games like Smash Bros, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime 3, Zack and Wiki, Boom Blocks, and Geo Wars Galaxy are all good.

Wii still has better games than PS3, which has MGS, Ratchet and Clank, a couple second-tier FPSes, a couple of good downloadable games, and multiplatform games that pale in comparison to the 360.

Buy a 360, or a hex based strategy game on the pc to celebrate.

I was thinking about the 360 deal, but with new versions looming in the distance, that might have to wait.

I think it's fair to say both the PS3 and Wii are pretty laughable in terms of library.  Which one is more laughable comes down to taste somewhat.

If someone only has a PS3, then the PS3 wins because of the huge list of great third party titles to play.

There are slim pickings in terms of great exclusives for the PS3, that much is true. There is, however, a few good to very good games on it, and the exclusives are going to see a major wave over the next year (although a few of the high profile ones, like Killzone 2, are of unknown quality). The Wii, in contrast, has shit for a library overall, with a few shining exceptions, and there are few signs that things are going to get better. Which would be one of the main reasons I'm selling the system.

Hell, even the 360 is quite slim on great exclusives. Unless you like Japanese RPGS.

What a fucked up generation. Oh well, at least the Wii is out of the house.  :hyper

As if there were other options. I didn't know anyone with a Wii console that I could borrow, so buying one was the only way to actually get some hands-on time with it. I should have known better than to buy another Nintendo console after the barnacle that was the Gamecube, but the lure of Super Mario Galaxy was quite strong. Now SMG is done, so the console can take a hike. And with no money lost.

Do they still rent consoles? I would think that would be a better way of dealing with the Wii.  Rent it once a year when there is that one fun game, play it, then take it back.

I remember I rented a PS1 when it first came out and played the hell out of it for a week before having to give it away.  This was back when I couldn't buy every system at launch.  Even the N64, which was my main system for a while, was bought near Christmas (I'm muslim, but we celebrate christmas.  Rock on.) and that was the only reason I was allowed to buy it.  First system I bought at launch was the Dreamcast.  I remember being there the night of its release and destroying people at Soul Calibur.  It was sad since I was a young teenager then, and these guys were older and clearly didn't have the internal fortitude to match up with me.

I just remembered that I payed $70 for a used copy of Wave Race.  Totally worth it.

Meh, maybe it’s just me, but when I buy a console, I see that as an investment. Even if there may not be too many great games, a few of them will come down the line, and I also like to go back and play the same games later on. You were fortunate that you got your money back, and that’s something that I would do as well since that at least meant I could buy it at a cheaper price later, but from the way you sounded,  it seemed like you wouldn’t have mind selling at a loss.

A poor investment, in my opinion. There is nothing on the horizon that looks even moderately appealing, and the system does by design not have the types of games that offer nearly infinite replay value, so why not sell it while the initial investment can still be mostly recouped? I can just buy another one in two years, when the next genuinely good games out for the system, and by that time the system will likely be a good deal cheaper than it is now.

Do they still rent consoles? I would think that would be a better way of dealing with the Wii.  Rent it once a year when there is that one fun game, play it, then take it back.

Even if I could have rented it, that would have cost me more. I got three months out of it, and lost nothing. Not a bad deal.

No one even knows what's 'on the horizon'.  Part of the few joys left untouched in gaming is waking up tomorrow and hearing about something for the first time I want to play.

Personally, this is the reason I own multiple systems.  Even if one doesn't get much in terms of steady stream of releases, one of the others will.

I don't think there are many people out there who play 24/7 and have to have every system giving them a constant bombardment.

No one even knows what's 'on the horizon'.

I know quite a bit about what's coming up in the next year for the other systems. Nintendo, on the other hand, has shown nothing of interest. And again, if the next worthwhile game comes after the system reaches a lower price point, why in the hell would I hold on to the thing, especially when I'm not taking a loss on selling it? It's not like it has some secondary or tertiary media function to keep it going between waves of games.

Yes, I can read the Internet too.   :P  But even then you aren't going to have a release schedule for the rest of the generation.  Something always comes up.

But I completely agree about reaching the point when games come after the price drops... but that's usually solved by not buying it in the first place, for me, until I have enough to play.

It's the reason I don't yet have a PS3, or didn't buy a 360 for the first six or seven months, or didn't buy myself a Wii (but was a gift, so that works).

I'm like Oblivion I guess; once I've made the commitment I might as well hang on to it.
