Just like the original Matrix, I loved the first Pirates film. Sadly, just like the Matrix films, the sequels were pretty bad.

I never liked the series to begin with. I never got why everyone loved the first. Depp wasn't enough to save it.

The second half of #2 is fucking awesome. But the first hour bores me. Never seen the third one. I'm going to pick up the 2nd probably tonight. And then depending on how I feel, maybe the third tomorrow. The first looks great on Blu Ray though

oh come on, how could you hate the fat pirate and his glass eyed buddy? Or Barbosa? Or Sparrow's right hand man? The supporting cast was so much better than the main cast (outside of Sparrow of course)

The best thing about the PotC series was how awesome I thought 3 was going to be after 2's cliffhanger. So much wasted potential.

Someone gave me a PotC 3 dvd for Christmas, and it came with a card explaining all the plot holes. Glad the screenwriters knew the saying "If it's not in the script, it's not in the movie."

Sparrow isn't particularly likeable in the second and third movies, but I think the purpose there was to create an ambiguity to the nature of his scheming. That said, I still really have no idea what was going on in those flicks.

Pirates, for me, never got any better or any worse. All of the films were adequate. Not good, not bad, just adequate.

I have a running gag where where I'll say "Did you know that Orlando Bloom was in Pirates of the Caribbean?" as if he had an uncredited cameo.

Someone disputed it once and said that they liked the Will Turner character. I dared them to name three of his lines from the entire series, and they said "Um... 'Ahoy, Jack Sparrow!' He probably said that at some point, right?"

they tried real hard in 2 and 3 to get a Star Wars party vibe going

Jack Sparrow isnt likeable. Hes an annoying twit made even more annoying by how popular he became. Fuck I hate this series.
