IGN I can't trust anymore because of the GTA4 score. Ick.

I know I'm going to be absolutely fuckin' blasted for this, but Nintendo Power's scores aren't as biased as you'd think. They actually seem to be a bit more rough on Nintendo than any of the Nintendo-based online media. Again, I'ma be flamed, but whatever.

This is what used to happen on Nintendo systems. Console owners starved for a year for a decent game, they get a decent game, and its a 10/10. Purchase justified. MLB 08 The Show > MGS4 crapsux

No, it's ok. When I went to preorder the game yesterday, the girl assumed, not asked mind you, but assumed I wanted it for 360.

Did you guys catch the latest trailer? It's sort of humorous, in a reflective sort of way. At one point I almost expected Conker to appear. God damn does the game look good though. It's a shame about the, well, game.

Despite the fact that I think the MGS series is silly and has archaic gameplay, the latest gameplay trailers and the 13 minute opening sequence make me want to play it. I want to fight some of those walking/mooing things.

Yeah... the game has amazing designs, and obviously equally amazing production values. It's just a shame that it's a Metal Gear game. If I was a MGS fan, this wait would probably be quite insufferable.

I just played some of it, and it's good fun. Kojima & Co have really thought this one through.

The attention to detail is fantastic. I also watched this subtitled trailer with Kojima walking some Japanese journalist through some parts.

"Now you can get in the barrel and do barrel-roll attacks..."

Snake sneaks around in a barrel, then goes prone in the barrel and rolls towards two enemies, who he manages to knock out.

"Of course, after spinning in a barrel, you will feel sick to your stomach"

Snake throws up.

"You can make yourself feel better by leafing through girly magazines."

Snake flips through some pages with some hot ladies.

The resolution looked pretty nice - probably not 720p, but it did look sharp, unlike GTA IV.

the MGS series (I got stuck in MGS2 and the amount of ridiculous dialog just put me off - yes, even when pressing the triangle button to skip the chatter). But, based on what I played and what I saw, there was much to be liked. I doubt it'd keep itself fresh for 20-30 hours, though.

I'm more of a Sam Fisher guy myself (Chaos Theory ftw). That, and the fact that the game was sitting there, ready for my buying, yet it never even crossed my mind to purchase the game, should say something.

see ... this is what made me realise a LONG time ago that this series is not for me , because all the points above make me want to barf up a lung.

I'm sure this is going to be much better than the other games, but in all honesty, i just sort of wish the visuals/design were tied together with a game like, oh i dunno, Rainbow 6 Vega 1 ?

Not really, dude. If anyone takes this console war so seriously that they are OK with spoiling a game for others, then that person really needs to find another fucking hobby (and probably look into some tough therapy), because it's clearly not about games to that person. That'd be a sad fucking thing to do. I know that fanboys are, by definition, not reasonable people, but when you reach a point where you're actually alright with fucking with people's gaming experiences, you need help.

I just hope that there's nothing in there like that ladder-climbing sequence from MGS3. I preordered this, I just hope there isn't anything that causes me to think, "Did anyone tell Kojima that this was a terrible idea?"
