I hate racists but even I am a little. Its kinda weird racism where its like, I see black people so infrequently that when I see them I want them to know im not racist so I am extra polite. Its not noticable but while I dont smile at most white people ill smile and nod at every black person I see.

Its a weird sort of racism.

what do black guys do when a buff asian man nods at them tho? i should know this  :'(

I lived in a town that was 95% white people. Probably about 75% of those people were racist.

So, whenever I went to college, I almost got my ass kicked a few times for saying some stuff that I didn't mean to be racist, mainly talking about Chappelle's Show and stuff. It's not that I was racist, it was the area I lived in.

I know better now, that's for sure.

How many times have I heard this in the US:

Thats strange I have never heard this in my 23 years in america.

I really can't fathom racists. I guess you have to be born in a certain area.

You've got to have certain parents.

So then how did racism start?

Group protests at Cobb bar, calling Obama T-shirts racist
Mulligan's selling shirts with 'Curious George' picture

By CHRISTIAN BOONE
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 05/13/08

Marietta tavern owner Mike Norman says the T-shirts he's peddling, featuring cartoon chimp Curious George peeling a banana, with "Obama in '08" scrolled underneath, are "cute." But to a coalition of critics, the shirts are an insulting exploitation of racial stereotypes from generations past.

"It's time to put an end to this," said Rich Pellegrino, a Mableton resident and director of the Cobb-Cherokee Immigrant Alliance. He was among about 15 people who protested outside Mulligan's Bar and Grill Tuesday afternoon against the sale of the "racist and highly offensive" shirts.

Terry McAuliffe raised some serious expectations for Hillary's speech on MSNBC.

"You're going to see a great speech tonight from Hillary Clinton. Talked about it on the way down. I saw it. It's going to be a great speech. One of the greatest speeches, Chris, ever given," he said.

"Better than the second inaugural of Lincoln, perhaps," Matthews said after he got off the air.

"Better than stuff in the Bible," said Olbermann.

To keep that trickle of superdelegate commitments from turning into a flood, Hillary will likely continue the delightful and uplifting argument that she made to USA Today that she has a large and expanding base among "hardworking Americans, white Americans." This is code for "America isn't ready for a black man," but it's also unsubstantiated. Her share of white, working-class voters actually diminished considerably from Ohio and Pennsylvania to North Carolina and Indiana, largely because the more recent primary states are younger. It's "the granny gap," stupid. For all her claims of a broad coalition, Hillary's only reliable base is older white women with no college education. She obviously doesn't crush Obama among white voters more generally or she would already be the nominee.

The last several primaries have all had surprisingly large chunks of people who openly said that race was the most important factor in voting for Clinton.

I say surprisingly not because of the levels of bigotry but the openness.  Who cops to being a white racist these days?

People who don't give a shit what other people think about it.  You also have to factor in the 6-7 percent that voted for Edwards- my guess is they were the uber-bigots who couldn't bring themselves to vote for a woman, white or otherwise.

Hey!

Some of them could have been union people, sure.  But come on, this is WV we're talking about, the heart of Appalachia.  It really is like another planet out there.  I'm not blaming the people, their circumstances are more to blame for their lack of education and information.

if it is an edwards defection, i will shit my pants with liberal white joy

also, an awesome gk chesterton quote applicable to our shit-tacular foreign policy

Quote from: from a time when patriotism was still the refuge of scoundrels
It may be said with rough accuracy that there are three stages in the life of a strong people. First, it is a small power, and fights small powers. Then it is a great power, and fights great powers. Then it is a great power, and fights small powers, but pretends that they are great powers, in order to rekindle the ashes of its ancient emotion and vanity. After that, the next step is to become a small power itself.

The Obama campaign confirmed today that Howard Dean will remain chairman of the Democratic National Committee, even as Obama puts his own stamp on the DNC.

"Sen. Obama appreciates the hard work that Chairman Dean has done to grow our party at the grass-roots level and looks forward to working with him as the chairman of the Democratic Party as we go forward," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said.

Dean has shed his lightning rod status in recent years and focused more heavily on building state party organizations — a mission that gave him a base of support in the states and that matches Obama's plan to use his resources to keep McCain on the defensive in a wide range of states.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee did more than just give a speech at the North Carolina Republican Party convention. He also may have saved a life.

State GOP spokesman Brent Woodcox says the former Arkansas governor did the Heimlich maneuver on Robert Pittenger, the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, at a lunch before Huckabee gave his speech Saturday.

Woodcox says Pittenger was walking by the front table of the lunch greeting people when he began to choke.

Woodcox says Huckabee jumped up to help Pittenger, who was able to walk away after the incident without medical assistance.

Phone messages left for Huckabee and Pittenger on Saturday were not immediately returned.
