Not even the PC version of Gears, running at the highest settings, compared to the PR bullshots. Same thing with UT3, but then at least Gears of War was an awesome game, so it was easy to forgive and forget. This though doesn't look that far out of reach (just the usual PR cleanliness), and it's nice to see that the Brumak has been given a "real" chain, as opposed to the one that was painted on in the last game.

Having played the PC version, the "larger battles" stuff honestly worries me. The PC version featured a handful of new areas and battles, and a few of these were significantly larger and more densely populated with enemies than anything in the console version. And as a result, they actually played like shit. I really hope that "balance" is a priority here, but presumably they know what they are doing. Do we know anything about how they are handling this?

I'm going to have to wait for the PC version.

Yeah, I suppose. It wasn't actually as bad of a port as people make it out to be though (the issues were mostly Live based), but the added levels... urgh. Press the buttons in sequence! Incredibly, that "urgh" includes the Brumak fight.

It would have been better if I hadn't, honestly. Sure, the Brumak looks cool, but having fought him, it was hard to take the new footage seriously. From a challenge point of view, I mean.

I get 60fps at 1920x1080 my rig with everything on highest settings on GoW - it's badass. The port wasn't that bad (quite good overall I'd say), apart from that damn Live update bug that would affect ASUS mainboards only (unlucky me). Other than that (and the occasional hiccup during transition between cut scene and in-game action) it looked and played great. Pulling off headshots with the sniper rifle is so much easier too with a mouse.

This is true. I almost gave up on the game without being able to log into Live, which wouldn't even let me save in singleplayer mode. After that, though...

Now, it's mostly smooth in the original levels.  There's some odd stuttering in the extra content but it's mostly playable.

That just happened to me recently when I alt-tabbed out of the game.  There're a few games that aren't alt-tab friendly but none of them had ever destroyed my save.

Thanks, I love it. 4p co-op in Halo was a blast, but I wasn't pleased with the functionality. No co-op matchmaking and no drop-in drop-out makes it very hard to get a good co-op session going. One of the few (the only?) areas where gears had a better feature than Halo 3.
Co-op matchmaking/searching is a must. Few days ago I started a co-op session in Gears and within half a minute someone joined my game.

edit: apparantly people aren't sure wether cliffyb says "adjustable difficulty for co-op players" or "four co-op players"

Probably not a confirmation though it's very likely. They're probably not going to confirm it for a while.

The motion blur? It felt more precise, but my memory of the 360 version is pretty foggy. I forgot to adjust the post processing though, it was set to intense.
