BOOM BLOX does make hard cocks - (with throbbing veins)
« on: May 14, 2008, 12:04:38 PM »
This has to be one of the best Wii games I have played.

So much potential with the core mechanics and so many modes - not to mention a stage builder mode.

If it had multi online and an online service that supported global user designed stage sharing it would be 4x wkyd. (its sick and sad that PSP games feature online services like this but a great Wii game doesnt)

When you get frustrated you can always just throw a ball and bean one of the block animals in the background ;)

Seeing the block animals begs the question - where is Cubivore Wii?

PS - dont let the box fool you - you only need the analog stick attachment for the edit mode.

While I think BOOM COX is in a league well above most experimental or simple downloadable games you do have a good point - retail Wii software on a disk often feels VERY light compared to 360/PS3 software packages on a disk - all of it feels like it could be DLC on one of the adult consoles.

So if Wii retail games feel like DLC on the adult consoles - what do Wii VC and Wiiware games feel like?

I could see a downloadable game on the adult gaming platforms called "(insert classic console name here)" for like $30 that features EVERY rom in the consoles library. I mean even now PS2 game disks take the steam out of the VC....Why spend 160$ to download 16 NEO GEO games on the Wii when you can spend $19.99 and buy a comp disk for PS2 that has better features even :(

I played the WiiWare games last night, both are leagues above retail Wii games.

I finally cleared the Adventure Mode last night, with gold on every level except for that stupid 2nd to the last stage. I'll come back to that eventually, but right now I'm working on getting gold for all the Expert stages. I want that Nuclear Bomb!

What Wiiware did you play? I looked earlier and nothing said "BUY ME NOW" - and i already got 2500 points sitting there....

What review copies did you evaluate big Dem?

I played Lost Winds and Final Fantasy

Lost Winds looks nice, IS WIDESCREEN (this is a big one), is a typical Wii game (omg ur pointer is the wind) - but overall is boring, got bored and deleted it. There are 24 collectable things to find hidden in the game, but finding them all gives you a grand prize of - JACK SHIT, you get nothing for your hard work, thus this game is crap.

Final Fantasy looks nice too, IS NOT WIDESCREEN, and should give general sim fans a hard-on. It seemed very easy to get into, not being a sim fan myself, but I got bored and nuked it too. It also has a New Game+ of sorts, if you beat it.

Between the two, I'd go for Final Fantasy. Word on the streets is Lost Winds can be done in a simple 3 hour sit-down, but Final Fantasy can reach upwards to 15, so you definitely get more content for your money (pending you don't be stupid enough to buy the OTHER DLC).

TBH I dont care about widescreen when playing Wii - i mean it looks pretty lame compared to the adult consoles - do you really want a wider view of shit?

I still think they should just build a mini projector into the Wii itself. I mean the thing isnt really display worthy....the IR sensor could be built into the Wii as well and you just stand behind it when playing.

This makes it 500X more cool and a blast for parties, etc....(just take it out to the place plug it up in front of a wall and play with the projected image)....bored in the garage? bring the Wii out and play some tennis.....play it in the back yard at night, etc....

No need to waste hours of an LCD/Plasma's life with this output ja?

Uh, yeah? You have been to the movie theater right? If the console supports widescreen, it SHOULD HAVE widescreen

I turn on my Wii, its all widescreen, play a game and find that there are these gaudy black bars on the side of the screen?

Yes i experience the same behavior.

What im sayin is that the image is so lo rez and jaggified I do not care to see it take up all of the screens landscape - and further, id be satisfied with cheapo lo rez projector output as the Wii's video output isnt modern display worthy - since you dont need a modern display - why not make the mobility/freedom aspects of the console even more pronounced? Wireless internet, wireless controllers - free that bitch machine from the 50 inch screen it doesnt need anyway.

Also adding the projector and audio components might make the Wii worth the $250 they charge for it.

Playing the Wii honestly sometimes feels like I hooked the PSP up to a display with AV out.

But what it does it does well - visuals aside.
