Worst near accident I had was when I was 16 and driving 60 mph on a gravel road with my newer car. I knew about how safe driving on gravel was at those kinds of speeds but I was young and dumb. So I make a tight corner and obviously, the car starts sliding across the road. A couple hundred feet away, there is a driveway where a big ass SUV is pulling out. As dumb as I was, any idiot would know better than to get onto the road when there is a dumbass drifting and spinning out a couple hundred feet away. Nevertheless, the SUV begins to pull out and heads in my direction.
In a stupid teenage move, I decide to overcorrect, which makes it worse. Now the SUV is beginning to drive in my direction and seems to be hauling ass. I start freaking out and in a moment where I briefly became religious, I went down a shoulder, avoiding the wreck. If it was even a half second delay in that shoulder move, the vapid SUV driver would have hit me and I'd probably be drinking my meals through a straw right now.
Fortunately, I backed out with enough speed and drove away. My car's alignment was fucked and had to get it fixed but better that than what might have happened.
