The show has a casual charm to it and even when it's downright dopey, it was at least first to the "WOMEN ARE REAL PEOPLE!" game. However, in the time since it's very, very timely demise, stay at home Moms, 40 year olds who wish they were 14 and girls without personal ambition have savaged the show's reserve of good nature. I was just about to give a critical pass altogether when the movie rolled up.
Has there been a worse idea? The major charm of Sex and the City was it's long form pain, watching these 4 selfish, utterly unlikable women suffer the same humiliating personal defeats as every average joe. Having a movie full of wish fulfillment and happy endings slammed into two hours is not only a boring disgrace, it gives chance for all these weird fans to have a DAY OUT JUST LIKE THE GIRLS ON TV.
I'm sure the movie will be terrible, but the things it will do to the show's legacy is worse.
