I am cautiously optimistic. Im probably the biggest Bond nut here, and he has burned me a lot with recent offerings. But everything seems to be in place here. This film looks to be the closest in tone to Fleming's books since The Living Daylights.

Sadly, I dont know if they can ever make anything again to top Connery's best ones, or OHMSS or TLD.

I keep having trouble with the fact that M is female in this... yet it's Bond's first mission(reboot kinda like Batman Begins). But.. M... is female... not suppose to be... female... besides that the trailer I've seen looks interesting enough.

Its best not to worry about continuity in the Bond movies (for example, his dead wife, which has been referenced all of 2 times in the 37 years since OHMSS). In the books, he (M) was a man, a former Navy Admiral, and he had more of a personal relationship with Bond then the movies ever showed. He was more like a boss/mentor.

M is a woman simply because its Judi Dench, and they wanted to keep a recognizable and famous face around.

Just came back from the Borat movie and saw the Casino Royal trailer for the first time....and I'm...

I haven't been this hyped for a Bond movie in a long time. It just looks much more visceral and serious.

I'm looking forward to it. Daniel Craig is a damn good actor (Road to Perdition made me a fan) and I like the serious tone over the crap they pushed out with Brosnan.

I've seen the Connery ones. The problem is that they're all repetitive, predictable, and utterly boring once you realize what's going to happen. If there were just like six Bond movies overall, I probably wouldn't complain. But there's like 25 or whatever, and each one beats the dead horse even more.

Besides, James Bond should be fucking dead of AIDS by now, sleeping with all these women. In fact, why hasn't ONE "criminal mastermind" in the series ever thought to infect a hot babe with AIDS and send her out for Bond? Because if he did that, there'd be no more Bond movies or Bond monies, that's why

I was very late to the party on that series, but when I finally rented both movies I was blown away by the serious tone of the movie and the complexity of the plot. That could have been pulled off terrible and made more money (think XXX), but instead they took the time to create an awesome movie.

I agree. That's why I'm more excited about it. Instead of being a layed back badass, Bond in this movie seems like a plain badass who'd shoot your mother through the head just to kill you, if you were holding her hostage like in Robocop.

Bond doesnt need to be Bourne-esque. They are two completely different animals. There is more than enough room for two different takes on the spy genre. Bond just needs to play it closer to the ground, and rely on story over action ala From Russia With Love.

Agreed. I dig Bourne, I mean I really, really, really dig Jason Bourne, but the big difference between the two is that Bourne will find his heart when he's told to kill your little sister. Bond, in the same situation, will just sip a martini while he's doing the dippity doo dah with your mom. You can't really compare a character shrouded in complexity and a character that thrives on class.

Even though Bourne could cure Bond of AIDS by kicking it the fuck out of him

If the Bourne Ultimatum is as good as the first two movies, it'll be one of my favorite trilogies. I can't wait for that movie.

Anyway, it looks like Casino Royale will be the movie to knock Borat off the top spot, as it will take it again this weekend.

Casino Royale will probably hold on to #1 for two weeks, it has little competition going into Dec. Due to lack of competition and if it has Batman Begins style word of mouth to those turned off by Die Another Day..etc I think this could pull of 200 mil in USA.

I've only seen the Bourne Identity (haven't seen the Supremacy yet) but Bourne Identity whooped the hell out of Die Another Day... it was espionage done right, and I'm a pretty huge Bond fanboy.

However, this latest Bond film looks like it's going to deliver.
