“Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee’s endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well. I have said I do not believe Senator Obama shares Reverend Wright’s extreme views. But let me also be clear, Reverend Hagee was not and is not my pastor or spiritual advisor, and I did not attend his church for twenty years. I have denounced statements he made immediately upon learning of them, as I do again today. “

What's the beef with this?

I really feel like this doesn't need explaining:

He thinks the sole purpose of the Jewish people is to create a Hebrew state in Israel for the benefit of Christians.  He thinks that the Holocaust was a good thing insofar as it helped this happen.

This guy and the movement he represents have a foothold in national politics; at least one major pro-Israel lobby counts him as an ally.  But he very obviously does not see the safety of Jews or Israelis as a priority.  He's fine with them being sacrificed as long as it helps him reach his goals.

Screw Christian Zionism.

I don't think that's what he's saying at all, at least not from what I heard.  There might be other clips where he says that but in this clip all he's doing is explaining a prophecy.  I will say I don't know much about this guy as I've never really heard him preach much but this clip is not him being "excited" or "not caring" about the holocaust, he's just stating what did happen and how it relates to scripture.

seems more like him saying there's a right way for jews to act and a wrong way for jews to act, and apparently most of the jews killed in the holocaust were acting the wrong way. a simplified explanation but hagee and his ilk don't deserve any better

the problem with the prophetic movement is that they seem to think they can force god's hand, which isn't going to happen. he's not waiting for the bat signal. he works on his own clock (according to the bible at least) and will act accordingly when the time comes. with that in mind i see no reason to protect israel solely for selfish prophetic reasons. the kingdom isn't promised to you anyway hagee.

note: i'm not saying israel is shit out of luck and on their own. as a democracy in a hostile area they should get our support, but that doesn't mean they should get the blind support we've given them for decades.

Israel has a right to exist as long as they can support themselves without our help.
