Edit: By the way: The top photo was taken in June of this year. The bottom one was taken during the time of the news story (June 28). These are recent photos.

A blog recently interviewed a person caught out in the heart of where Hurricane Katrina struck

Apparently, to recieve FEMA aid, you had to knowingly sign away your rights to speak with the media on conditions in NOLA. Well, regardless to say, even if you don't read the article, they're still horrible. It's nice to know we have a 3rd world country displacing our own citizens who once lived productive lives less than a thousand miles away from a lot of us <3

"People have no idea how out of control things are down here….I mean really unbelievably out of control…."

And of course, a news story that kinda lightens up the mood... right?

Quote
New Orleans, one year later: Still a disaster
To the list of daily aggravations in the new New Orleans, add one that augments the heat, spoils the food and drains the cash register: power failures.
Ten months after Hurricane Katrina, the city still does not have a reliable electrical system. Hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of repairs are still needed on a system devastated by flooding, the local utility is in bankruptcy and less than half the system’s prestorm customers have returned. Of those who have, many have endured hot and sleepless nights with no air-conditioning.
“How do you expect the city to recover when you don’t have a reliable source of electrical power?” asked Robert Harmon, an engineering consultant in the Bywater neighborhood.
Regular power failures. Hmm... what other city has regular power failures? Oh yeah. Baghdad.

And no, that is not a picture from Baghdad.

NO was already a third world country before Katrina hit.

Let throw more money at it ... look how well the first 10 billions has been spent. Lapdances and cigarettes for everyone.

When I was down there 4 years ago, it was nowhere near that bad. Even the worst parts only resembled the "okay" parts of Baltimore.

And yet the Gvmt sees Baltimore worth investing into now that it's having a huge influx of hispanics and latinos and whatnot.

No I don't. That shit happened like a year ago. Nobody cares about that, or black people anymore. Which is why I devoted this week's article on the opposite of black people... The Amish.

Don't worry. When the land value there bottoms out, People forego their land claims, but the after-time cleanup is made, white people will rush into the territory to buy everything out, and then it  will be rebuilt!
