Local Arcade + Saturday Night + ....... = OMFG!!!!!!!
« on: May 25, 2008, 03:14:15 PM »
Btw '........' is legal in California and I have a card so back off.

OMFG.

Best night ever.   8) 8) 8)

Girlfriend was way into Star Trek pinball and Ms pacman(used most of our quarters on ms pacman, she got a new record high score).

Myself?

I played:

  • Off Road Thunder - 1 quarter, came in 3rd place, FUN 3D version of Off Road(nitro boost etc)
  • Soul Calibur 2 - 1 quarter, first time playing a SC game, I played as Yunsung; had a lot of fun
  • Fatal Fury Special - 1 quarter, blah selected the wrong game from the neogeo, ok I guess
  • Rtype 2 - 1 quarter, man this was the highlight for me, I love Rtype games, I had a fucking blast, beat the first boss and got somewhat into the 2nd level before I was finished
  • Heavy Barrel - 1 quarter, fun ikarri warriors type game, but some spots in the game are obvious choke points that you cannot pass without dying.  It is pretty funny how cheap certain arcade games can be just to eat more quarters.
  • Terminator 2 - 1 quarter, only because Operation Wolf was out of order
  • Busta Move 2 - Thought I was selecting Bubble Bobble, still I had a lot of fun, got somewhat far in the quest mode.
.

I have no idea how this place stays in business, but is is AMAZING.  They even had a japanese version of Ms Pacman by the entrance.  Goddammit it was fun.  It had a few nerds in there and social rejects playing computer games and some racing game, but it only added to the atmosphere.

I miss arcades.  I grew up in NYC and there were some really cool niche arcades back in the day.  Times Square, before becoming Disney tourist trap hell, had a really cool hole in the wall arcade that had an amazing selection.  I spent so much money on arcades as kid.

Me too, I use to spend tons of time at the local bowling alley just to play Gauntlet or Smash TV.  This place is a true throwback, they really respect the legacy of arcades and most if not all the games are fucking amazing.  My gf actually spotted it a few weeks ago, major propers to her.   8)

Every game there was 1 quarter except for a few racing games.  It is insanely cool.

Oh I also played Super Pacman, unfortunately the table top unit(which had 25+ games to choose from) it was on had a busted analogue stick so I couldn't move left.

Hopefully they fix it, I used to love that game as a kid.

I'm not a big fighting game guy.  But to be honest while I was playing it I thought about getting the new Soul Caliber when it comes out since it has online play.

But to be honest, it wouldn't be the same.  Even though I was just playing the cpu, there is nothing like going to an arcade to experience these games.

Certain games are fantastic to sit on the couch and play, and I don't think fighting games are ideal.  First I would need to get an arcade stick which I don't have the space for, but even still it isn't the same.

Oh werd, where did you used to go?  Laser Park?  Barcode?  Broadway City?  It's a shame how they all shut down due to various stabbings and other acts of violence (although LP might still be open, I don't know).  They have Dave and Busters there now, but it's not the same...ah well, at least you can go to CTF to play fighting games in a dirty hole in the wall environment!

It's near the Bay area, north of it actually.

Nah, I'm convinced this place is a pet project of some rich SOB(there are tons around here).

There is no way this place could exist outside this wonderful vacuum.

I hope so. I'd take a Wii version, despite the inevitable graphical downgrades...

Japanese arcades went to hell. :( I miss the days of crazy shiz like Pro Trucker and Walk the Dog and Samba de Amigo and that Samurai game.

There is only one Japanese arcade I go to anymore... OMRON in Shin-Koiwa!!!

Japan's biggest pinball collection :bow :bow :bow :bow :bow

Do you mean Super Off Road with the four steering wheels?

God I loved that game so much - it was pretty much the most rad arcade machine of all time for me.

Anyone been to Arcade Infinity in Rowland Heights, CA? I hear they get all kinds of Japanese machines, and they just got Basara X.

Seattle sucks for arcades, but I was up in Vancouver, BC recently, and saw that E-Spot had a few Gundam vs. Gundam machines, which made my day.
