sooooo... Ive actually been playing GTAIV. Goddamn was I fucking excited when I first started playing, all my unsubstantiated trolling and predictions were true.
They havent fixed one fucking problem from the previous games. NOT ONE. Cars handle like complete ass, I would say even assier than than previous games. Do all cars in real life flop all over the road like theyre made out of jello? Do cars flip over when they simply turn corners? The cars do look quite nice, but the fact that the developers have neglected to fix the BS physics after 4 fucking games is inexcusable.
The hand to hand combat 'improvements' are an absolute control tranvesty, gunplay is marginally better with the addition of cover, blindfire etc. but still shit. Would they have added those features if Gears wasnt so huge? Im guessing not.
Achievements are dogshit
The script, characters and music are good though. And there are a couple of welcome additions... the new wanted/police system is more thought out and exciting. Getaways are quite tense and good. Missions seem to be more varied, and Im yet to come across any 'pilot this BS toy with a gun that has the worst controls ever' missions which Is good. (I particulary liked the mission where you had to date some dude online then blow him away)
So Im glad I rented this turd, I discovered that it is a medicore, yet fairly playable game. A solid 6/10. All these 5/5's, 10/10's etc are fucking insane, cant people see that glaring flaws have been overlooked game after game after game?
