We saw this in the theaters, we brought in a flask of Tattoo and watched it pretty wasted.
I loved it. A LOT!
We on demanded it last night. I lit a gov approved joint.
I kind of disliked it. The songs weren't as good as I remembered. In fact a lot of the songs sucked, especially the horrible Janis Joplin character. The opening was way too drawn out, the real meat of the movie seemed to take forever to get to. Even that wasn't that great.
The special effects didn't look as good on my 46(47?) inch 1080p screen. I saw a lot of flaws(check out that cheepo water ripple in the screen above, it looks like Xbox1 water). The cinematography looked amateurish and like a tv movie sometimes. The lighting was flat. I remembered this being a BEAUTIFUL film.
Is it possible that a film that was MADE to watch high, is better if you are drunk? Seems so. Not sure if anyone cares about this here but I figured I'd throw it against the wall.
