The 120 gb Xbox 360 hdd
« on: May 26, 2008, 10:45:03 PM »
Want to D/L several of the old Xbox games. So, I was heading out to pick one up when I discovered it wasn't $79.99.

No, its $179.99. That's like 3 new games. The margin on that thing must be ridiculous.

I feel like the last person to know about this.

I refuse to play into Microsoft's hands by buying Originals which would then force me to buy the 120gb hard drive.

Fight the system.  :punch

Plus, if you buy a new drive, some of your saves can't be transfered at all. Viva Pinata and Forza 2 come to mind. So I'm stuck with what I have, until God strikes it with lightning and fries it.

Much worse than the wireless adapter.

300gb HDD costs like $100.

Paying even a dollar a gig is out of control.

Ridiculous. I still can't believe Elite doesn't have WiFi out of the box.

Can you use any wireless adapter? My father-in-law bought a Linksys for his 360 and never could get it to work. Then I slap on the official Xbox one and it works fine.

Newer WRT54Gs cannot be used as bridges, believe me. Nerfed by firmware.

I don't think the wireless adapter is such a rip. Bridges cost like $100-150. What's a rip is that there's not a simpler wireless solution built in.

I just got a Belkin wireless bridge $80 off for my 20GB PS3, and it was still $50.

edit: This is what I'm talking about:

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F5D7330-802-11g-Wireless-Ethernet/dp/B00020H1TG/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1211857179&sr=8-1

All the packaging and instructions show a 360 so I'm sure it'll work. Very easy setup for PS3.

Yeah, I don't think the wireless adapter is a rip off either. Mine has worked perfectly since the day I got it over two years ago. Anything that simplifies my network is totally worth the money to me.

Of course, built-in wireless would be better. But, my DS has built-in wireless and has never worked in my network. I believe my WRT54GS is incompatible or something like that.

ds doesn't support WPA, could be the reason.

some saves have drm like the ones demi mentioned.

edit: maybe that new drm tool can move the save license? nah, don't think so.

About a year ago I got my first 360 back from being repaired.  My Wii had provided virtually no relief while the 360 was away and I was so pumped to have the 360 back that I sprung for the horribly overpriced wireless adaptor.

When I got home and plugged it in I was instantly rewarded with three red lights.

yeah, the drm is one of the reasons i haven't upgraded.  I put A LOT of fucking time into my forza 2 vehicles.

Also, I still have that long ass cable that came with my 360 running from the back and into my router.

well just switching xbox's isn't too bad.  You can swap your hard drive into different systems without much of an issue, and now the DRM shit should be getting fixed so there really won't be a problem.
