Why don't I like emo music?

I've been identifying the songs that play at this coffeeshop by googling snippets of the lyrics.  The last one turned out to be by Fallout Boy, and I didn't like it at all.  This always happens, I hear some band ridiculed as being for angsty pseudo-intellectual whiny losers, and I think "omg I am an angsty pseudo-intellectual whiny loser, this should be awesome!" and then I hear it and it's NOTHING like the descriptions led me to imagine.  Even Radiohead wasn't entirely what I hoped.  What gives?

Fallout Boy isnt really "Emo", its some weird "Emo/Punk" bastard child. I think Dashboard Confessional started the shift, shame on them.

This is what I was going to say.  Emo musicians don't really have any problems so they write songs about them to make themselves look emo. 

You already seem to have a boatload of problems and by the amount you talk about them you don't need emo music to remind you of them.

like others said, fall out boy isn't really emo. listen to fugazi, one of the first emo bands, who are actually very good.

And why are you searching for snippets of songs and then not liking them?  Why would you search for the snippets if you didn't like it?
