I was brought in to run an IT shop at a civil engineering firm near my house, the IT Director was leaving and they wanted to replace her. The main reason she was leaving is because she didn't get along with the COO. Anyway shortly thereafter the COO gets canned... that was May or so. So today I get called in... Darien it's not any reflection on your peformance, we're not changing your salary, but we're going to bring the old IT Director back. Of course she's known the ****ers for years, and now that the COO is gone, the main reason she left, she's got no reason to not come back. And since she already has the executives ear I'm sure it was REAL easy to convince them to let her back in. She f*cked me right in my a$$ with no vasoline. Then the President goes, you know I'm not even sure how long she's going to be here... 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, etc... wtf. I know she doesn't work well with others so I'm going to make sure I talk to her about that... double wtf... F*ck them I'm just going to use that company to pay for getting my MCSE and whatever else they'll pay for and then I'm outta there.

Suffice to say I took the rest of the day off and came home... damn them....

Well there's no deduction in salary, as for how it'll affect future raises? Who can tell?

I look at it this way: With her not working there, you had the potential to work in her position and eventually make IT Director money. Now she's back, and she's probably making more than you. With her there, you won't be an IT Director, and thus won't make as much.

Sounds like nothing happened to him, but they basically cut his balls off by bringing in the old IT Director. This probably cuts off his upward mobility at the company.

Pretty much, and the funniest thing is, then the President goes... I know how she is, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was only here another year or so, so I'd like you to look at this as simply and opportunity to learn everything about everything.... right.
