It'll never die. It's one of the oldest franchises that's still on top of the game.

FFXIII will blow us away. It will be the best game ever. After FFXII I regained all hope in FF.

final fantasy 12 was great. maybe people needed gayer characters and a focus on fathead 12 year olds saving the world but i was happy with basch, balthier, and fran. then i pretended vaan and penelo were older, barely talked, and were background noise. the princess was a douchebag but they all are so it was ok. the plot was better than other ff12s but the script was arguably the best, and if you didn't like the gambit system you could turn it off so the point is moot.

comparing or even saying ffx-2 was better is like saying you like rpg barbie because that's all it was. as far as i'm concerned it was the godfather 3 of the final fantasy series and never existed.

gambit system was brain-dead easy, and it didn't take much time at all to get a decent configuration going.

FFX-2 is solely about battles. And battles suck for the most part. I play my RPG's (and especially FF's) for the atmosphere, exploration and storyline. Sadly neither of the PS2 FF's had this as much as the PS1 FF's had. But FF12 is awesome though. I have to pick it up again after I stopped playing it for no reason. I'm at that village south of the Gaiazashasffffffff plains or something (the one where you must charge the sunstone IIRC).

I have to agree with that. I loved the battle systems in those games. I'm a sucker for turn-based games anyway.

And turn-based battle systems are so slow nowadays. Blue Dragon and Lost Planet really lose points on that. FFX and especially FFX-2 are pretty fast paced. That's so important.

For what it's worth, all three of the FFs for PS2 (FFX, X-2, and XII) were spectacular games that were well worth playing through to the end.
