So Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
« on: May 29, 2008, 05:13:00 PM »
Bought this for some Strogg fan service...

I have only played around offline trying to learn it.

At first, I was not feeling it at all..

- The game looks kinda like a PS2 game
- The dead bodies on the ground definitely make it look last gen. (no ragdoll, etc..)
- music doesnt really fit the Slipgate marine/strogg theme
- 16 players max  WTF!
- The game is not straight forward, it is NOT pick up and play fun. Only hope for fun is to learn it.

+ The strogg classes/weapons/vehicles are great
+ the game mechanics are promising
+ the maps are huge
+ the stat level up aspect is nicely done

So there there is enough allure to keep me playing it for a bit.

I will try online later.

Right now it is reminding me of back when I was playing Tribes.

I say C grade game worth $30 ATM.

Should have been a download.

It's kinda hard to figure out a first, but once you've spent an hour or two with it, it gets awesome. The PC version anyway, I don't know about the PS3 port.

I totally want to try playing this sometime. I have big love for Quake 2 and was really hopeful for Quake 4 (bought, haven't cracked the case yet). Strogg are really fun enemies, and they predate id's change to "satanic art as depicted on a jr. high metalhead's Pee-Chee folder.
