January 20, 2009 can't come soon enough.  They should really fumigate and bleach the WH before Obama gets in there just to make sure he doesn't catch the stupid.

I bet he would be great fun on a Saturday night driving around the dusty backroads of Texas hill country.  With a bottle of bourbon and an 8 ball....the life of the party I tell ya.

Yes, because when a liberal takes a poo it smells like roses. One thing I have learned from that "other site" is that those beloved liberals are possibly the greatest hypocrites on earth. Free Speech is great unless it differs with a liberals opinion.  Then they just pull stunts like this.

And her mature conservative response was to call them losers and tell them to get a life.

I really wish that proponents of marital rape would get more respect from this country!

And she was right to call them losers. Their actions showed them to be just that. No man or woman is perfect and I do not expect you to agree/disagree with all of her views. I do think her body of work is greater than the bulletpoint you posted here. Though it was nice of you to sum her up by the whole marital rape thing.

Your example sucked shit dude. A few hundred of 14,000 people turned their backs. It's not like they smashed her car up or threw tomatoes. You have no way of knowing the depth of their criticism of her, and turning their backs at a ceremony they don't agree with seems to be within the realm of civilized protest.

according to bdoughty, if you disagree with someone, you should just shut up and keep it to yourself.  ::)

they disagreed with her views, and they didn't like that Wash U was honoring her, so they showed their dissatisfaction with a completely nonconfrontational way.  wtf is wrong with that?

General respect for a fellow human being is a lost art.I guess parents need to go back to teach the basics. Just because you do not agree with someone does not give you the right to make an ass out of yourself.  Just read into the article and see who was the presenter.  Notice that the presenter is possibly the exact opposite of the person she was presenting the degree to.

Read up on that and get back to me.

Well heck, since I figure most of you would not take the time, let me paste it for you.

Margaret Bush Wilson, a civil rights leader, volunteered to introduce Schlafly as faculty and students were calling on the university to rescind the degree. Wilson said after the ceremony that while she does not agree with many of Schlafly’s views, she is a strong advocate of free speech.

"Vigorous, free-flowing debate is the cornerstone of our American life," Wilson said at today’s ceremony.

Kudos to Mrs. Wilson, a rare sight to see a liberal who is understanding of this.

So if one person agrees to do something then people of similar mind can't still express silent complaint?

There were 13,600 people there who DIDN'T turn their backs, all 20-25 year old college students, so they're probably dirty liberals too.

Can you not accept that a handful of people rotating their bodies can also be a vigorous form of free expression?

You're a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow.

And your pretty typical of every liberal I have ever met on the intertubes. Cry, call names, ignore any facts presented and more name calling.  I guess the next logical step would be to ban me for having a different opinion. Oh wait this is not that "other forum."

Eagerly awaiting more personal attacks and name calling.

I'm not a liberal LOL :dur

You're the one ignoring that the small minority of students were engaged in their OWN free expression. You're also ignoring the likelihood that the majority of young college students are 'liberals' and that the majority of those present did NOT turn around. So I blew a hole in both of your talking points, while you keep repeating them O'Reilly style.

Maybe you should stop making assumptions about where everyone stands politically and what motivates their actions.

You can be a democrat without being a liberal, would assume there are many of those seated and being polite. You are making the same generalizations to say the majority of those sitting are "liberals."  I do not plan on taking a poll on the issue but you can usually spot the left wing nuts in any situation.  In this case they are the ones with their back s turned.

* While I am a republican, I have a similar disdain for right wing whack jobs.

College campuses tend to trend left, that's reality. No one can say for sure who was what in that audience (turned or facing forward), but it's likely that there were more than 200 liberals out of those 14,000 and that not all of the people who turned were doing so for reasons you think they were.

And until that post you were saying "liberals," not "left wing nuts and whack jobs."

Although it seems that you read the term "liberal" as something intrinsically insulting, and "Democrat" as the OK way to feel.

*I'm a registered independent who once tended to vote republican and I don't like GAF style liberal nuts or right wing nuts.

That would be my bad. I do tend to equate liberal to left wing nut jobs.  In the future I will simply not refer to them as liberals. I know college campuses tend to go left. Not just the students but the faculty.

Are there really any unbanned right wing nuts posting in the OT at GAF? I personally have a disdain for the Obamafreaks who seem to feel that the man can do no wrong. I do not think he could do any worse than Bush but that is not really a lofty goal. I expect a bit more from a president and don't really see anyone that meets that criteria.

that wouldn't make any sense, i've already declared my interest (and thus given my unconditional consent for all time) so there's no need for further self-promotion on her part

then again, who ever expected girls to make sense lol
