Wario Land for Wii
« on: May 29, 2008, 08:58:44 PM »

Always nice to have a 2D platformer, though, only 20 levels it seems. Never really cared for the Wario Land series, however. Thought they were vastly inferior to the Mario platformers, but this one seems like it could at least be better than previous installments.

I hope it turns out good.  The DS game was weak, but I really liked the older games.

How is it a troll? 2d platformer on WiiWare makes more sense than a retail release.

They need to make a Waluigi game, he's been a character for awhile yet they haven't given him any original titles to star in.  I like Waluigi more than Wario anyway.

It does look like a DS game, but if it's as good as the first three Wario Land games, I don't care. Wario Land 3 is one of the best games ever.

What's so troll about it? Lost Winds and Final Fantasy CC looks better than majority of Wii games alone. If this is $50, it is a huge ripoff.

It should be $100 considering there's no 2D platformers anymore, and a bunch of generic elfin gay shit like BG&E 2.  :rofl

There's plenty of 2D platformers. I'm playing Yoshi's Island DS right now. I am sorry if you cannot wrap that around your head. I will speak slower next time.

Hey, if they've got cojones enough to charge retail for it, that means it has to be at least as long and content filled as say, Treasure's sorta-okay but depth-challenged Wario World for the Cube (6-8 hours).  I could get up in arms about this, but I can't really hate on a full fledged 2D game in this day and age.

Bring it on, says I.

Which came out in 2006... there's not that much in the way of good 2D platformers coming out now :(

2D in this has gotten my pants tight, hopefully the waggle isn't overbearing.

It doesn't seem too bad. Shaking enemies down for coins is neat.

But Shantae WiiWare is supposed to have no waggle.

nice spritework. and this is why i think it's fucking nonsense when gafers go on about the impossibility of drawing new sprites -- just outsource that shit to an animation studio, as nintendo have done here. it's not a new idea either...i've read about 16-bit games that did the same thing.

The animation is beautiful.  If only Megaman 9 looked like this.  Or the next Castlevania.  Or the next actual Mario game.  Or the next Metroid.  Or the next Zelda made in Zelda 2 style.  Or a number of other things.

Looks great, but still kinda worried about the gameplay. Heard it was beind done by some weird studio who I never heard of.

What I don't get is why, if usings sprites is expensive as people claim, Nintendo used sprites for oustourced 2nd tier games like Princess Peach DS and YIDS, but not for NSMB.

That video's pretty much all that I wanted out of a Wario Land Wii game - Awesome 2D graphics and animation, minimal (and fun looking) waggle, no transformations, body slam attack. Absolutely can't wait to get my hands on this, I haven't been disappointed in the series yet.

Please sell more than usual Wii shovelware crap like Carnival Games.  I would love to see more games like this.  The cell shaded style suits the Wii's graphical shortcomings.

People should wait til reviews come out. Just like SPM, this looks pretty, but it's being done by a fledgeling studio, and seems to be a pretty short game too.
