my favorite so far is THE COMPLETE STORIES although I am having difficulty following the overall plot
the most awesome thing about Kafka is that there are only three novels + one volume's worth of stories + maybe a couple volumes of letters and diaries and such, and maybe a secondary source or two, and I can pass myself off to most people as a Kafka expert. imagine if he were, like, Marx, or fucking Bach or Mozart or someone
I wish Salinger weren't so passe nowadays :'( or I could make any sense out of Webern :'(
