Event just started for me. I'll be avoiding this thread for two hours. Good thing I didn't care about Gina's fight, although I am slightly surprised that she won.

Man, the last two have been pretty awesome fights. Too bad they stopped the Lawler fight, it still was really good. This is a great opening night for Elite XC, a lot better than a bunch of the lame duck UFC PPV's that go nowhere.

That was actually an entertaining fight. Elite XC had a good debut tonight. fegs over at GAF can bitch all they want about the stoppage, I don't agree with it, but the dude was rocked and it was going to be over the next punch anyway. Yet they wanted the fight to be stopped because Kimbo was against the cage getting love taps from the other guy. Now that would have been a bullshit stoppage.

This isn't the major leagues of MMA, but it was entertaining ,thats all that matters. Too bad some homos have to get caught up in, "bubububu kimbo wouldnt beat a real heavyweight." Who gives a fuck? He never made claims he was a top heavyweight and doesn't look it. You don't have to have the two best fighters in the world together to have an entertaining fight. While cocksucking homos are bitching about him not having a ground game, I'll just enjoy the fight.

What a bullshit fight. Its pretty clear Elite wants Kimbo as this mainstream star and gave him this fight. Even though he got fucked upside the head on the ground.

He has Zero groundskills whatsoever. Barely has a standup game to boot. All Hype.

Gina on the other hand Gorgeous and talented. The Real gem of this company.

Got fucked? The dude was barely grazing him.  :lol It would have been worse than the Tito-Shamrock II finish. It seems like people hating Kimbo just because of hype is biasing people. If they would have stopped that fight on those lame ass love taps, it would have been ridiculous. Should they have stopped it when they did? No, but really it was a foregone conclusion. The guy already busted the dudes ear, and drilled him with an uppercut and he was staggered, Kimbo would have laid him out with any semblance of a decent punch the next time around, and chances are it would have been stopped soon anyway since his ear was busted.

Obviously he's not as good as an experienced heavyweight with any success, but I don't see why people are getting so offended. Especially if you watch MMA. You know going in that Elite XC is the B (or C) promotion out there. Yet people are all like "OMG Kimbo would have lost to a real HW!!11!!" That's equivalent to going to a Triple A game and bitching that it sucks cause the Red Sox could beat the team. Who fucking cares?

And you know, we're talking about an upstart organization here. How long did UFC live off of fucking overrated Tank Abbott? Hell, they have their own hype experiment going on with Brock Lesnar right now, living off as much of a resume as Kimbo has in the octagon. Mainstream loves a brawler with a distinctive look, even if they aren't exactly well rounded fighters. Kimbo's got that. No reason to be offended they aren't the best of the best.

You obviously watched a different fight than i did. He got his brain bashed in in the ground. He seriously has zero skills on the ground. He just layes there.

And He was more staggered in the seccond round and still won it. Ive got no doubt he would have been fine had the ref not interviened.

Im not "offended" by Kimbo living off hype. I dont care that he makes millions while more talented fighters fight for scraps. Triple A teams dont make millions. They dont get the top billing on Wednesday Night Baseball.

What i do care is for a company trying to make it big and compete with the Big Boy in the Room the UFC. Their main event was a joke. This was my first fight that ive seen Kimbo and i just wasnt impressed. Bas probably skipped the ground game at training camp. Kimbo is just   Some street thug with very little skill.

Tank Abbot? Side Show. Never had the hype or status that Kimbo has.

Oh and yeah. Any MMAer with a decent ground game cleans Kimbo.

His brain bashed in? Obviously he doesn't have any ground skills, but doesn't a guy have to be taking actual DAMAGE for the fight ot be stopped? No doubt he was in an extremely bad position, and he had no idea how to get out of that position, but why wasn't the guy grounding and pounding? Seems like all he could do was do some elbow face washing and a couple of weak impact strikes. If his brains were bashed in Kimbo wouldn't have been moving his head into the guy's chest, and he sure wouldn't have been able to goto a round 3.

Go watch the replay, the guy was staggered and his eyes were glazed over when the ref stopped it, and the guy probably has a busted eardrum right now. Completely different than anything that happened in round two. Anyone who's had a bad ear infection or any ear damage can tell you that that isn't a good thing, you completely lose you're equilibrium. The guy was throwing a strike at the ref, he had no clue where he was. That fight was over, you don't have to like it, but it was.

And all this hype is squarely on your own perception. He's not making millions, he's had 3 fights. It's the same exact thing as Abbott. If Abbott was a sideshow, he sure had enough name value for WCW to sign his ass for a cool 7 figures.

You wanna bitch about this getting top billing on CBS, why don't you bitch to Dana White for refusing to agree to a deal to actually give away something decent on TV free for a God damned change instead of this bullshit reality TV stuff? The last "free" PPV was Henderson vs. Rampage. What happened to the promise of at least two free PPV's per year? In the meantime we have a UFC PPV next week a whopping two weeks after the last one, is on tape delay since its overseas, and about 3 or 4 fighters had to drop out of for injury. But yeah, apparently right now Dana is still too good to give that to fans free on Spike.

You can bitch about Elite XC all you want, but at least its free, which is a lot more than you can say for UFC now. And maybe the HW match wasn't an instant classic, but its sure as hell better than a lot of UFC's HW matches they've CHARGED people for. I rather see technically unsound amateur Kimbo Slice than some of UFC's past HW stuff, like snoozefests between Sylvia and Arlovski.

He shoved the ref because of the bullshit stop. Not because he thought it was kimbo

hell Kimbo looked pretty bad having to be helped off the cage by two guys and having to cut the interview.  Those werent "love taps"

Alright dude, be a hater. Go look at the video, the dude looked like he just drained a fifth of vodka and was walking out of a bar. He was fucked up, he wasn't coming back. Especially if he has ear damage, his equilibrium would be fucked, and he could have got seriously hurt.

And Kimbo wasn't rocked, he needed help up because he has as much endurance as a fat kid playing volleyball. The dude was gassed after the fight, hell after the first round. He's a Butterbean fighter. If Kimbo was getting rocked, he wouldn't have been moving his head into the dude's chest. Bitch all you want, the guy got rocked and didn't finish it when he had a chance to. Doesn't mean Kimbo is a great fighter, but there's little controversey to this one, except for those who just want to hate on the guy for no reason.

That fight was alright. Both had completely shit cardio though. A round's worth of rolling on the ground and they're both exhausted? Did you see how sloppy they were midway through the second round? Both were telegraphing their punches horribly. But, then again, it is Elite XC. Kimbo looked alright on the ground. Bit slow though. I doubt he would have ended up pinned against the cage if he didn't have such ephemeral cardio.

I'm not sure why you would be surprised that Elite XC is trying to build up Kimbo. Have you seen his previous opponents?

Still, it was nice to see him on his back. Hopefully Bas keeps training up his BJJ and he works on his cardio..he's not going to be holding the belt long if he can't make it past two rounds.

Oh, and as far as I am concerned, there is very little controversy about the decision. Yeah, it's questionable because Thompson was still on his feet, but I thought that ear was about to fall off. And I'm thinking, as tired as Kimbo was, he would have been ktfo in another few seconds. Besides, from the look in Thompson's eyes I almost thought he had a concussion :lol

I'm not arguing they're minor league fighters. I'm not arguing it was sloppy. I'm not arguing Kimbo is a legitimate heavyweight. I just don't get the hate. It's a small little federation who got a national TV deal and a good chance to get some press for MMA. I mean, UFC could have did the same damn thing, but like I said, Dana White wants to go the greedy boxing route and anything they offer is going to be charged. That's his decision. So for those haters, don't fucking bitch if EliteXC has their own little shindig on CBS and hypes up an underskilled fighter based on a distinctive look and internet viral popularity. By the way, have you ever SEEN a Sylvia vs. Arlovski fight? Two guys standing around failing to press the action for 25 minutes.

Dana White could snap his fingers now and likely get a network TV deal if he wanted, but its all about the money. The same reason he didn't pay Couture shit even though he is by far their most popular Heavyweight. The same reason they couldn't reach a deal for Fedor and let him do a couple Russian Sambo tourney's to set up the Couture vs. Fedor superfight. It's their own fucking fault. They expect people to pay $40.00 or whatever this coming week to see a DELAYED Pay Per View overseas, just two weeks since hte last one, and a card that wreaks of mediocrity after the main event was cancelled due to injury, and then the replacement fight was cancelled due to injury, now they're on their THIRD scrapped together main event.

No don't worry, he's alright according to the pundits. It's normal to bleed from the ear. Actually, ironically, I did wake up with blood coming from my ear the other day since I cut it somehow inside the canal. As someone who's has enough ear infections to last a lifetime, its not a good thing to be hit there so hard you bleed i'm guessing. The guy already apparently had fluid there building up and popping it life that could make him lose his hearing. Either that or severely fuck you're equilibrium. That's why I think even if he somehow survived the onslaught there, where he was completely glazed, there's no way you can fucking fight with inner ear problems. I once had an ear infection and got vertigo and was stumbling on the floor and against the walls when I was taking a shower. You can't even walk with you're equilibrium fucked. I hope the dude is alright.

Oh, I have nothing against Shaw or Elite XC. Of course the fighters are going to be of lesser quality. I just would still rather watch Arlovski vs anyone. Even Sylvia looked great vs Nogueira.

The event overall was pretty blah though. Lots of sloppy stand up. I did enjoy seeing Baroni lose again, although I almost felt bad for him after considering his prior embarrassing loss to Shamrock.

terrible show with sloppy fighting and horrible stoppages. what a shame that the first mma show on free tv was this show featuring some of the most unskilled fighters.

at least Gina won and they had some exciting moments, but this will bomb ratings wise

Kimbo slice is in porn videos, and doesn't fuck any of these chicks. He must be a wild homo.

Shit, he could start a UFC type thing for reality kings where who ever wins gets to fuck a pornstar on camera. He'd have to use nobody's as fighters, though I'd like to see Lex Steel fight Shane Diesel in some sort of championship fights(winner gets to fuck more then one chick).

Also, they'd have to fight naked. Anyone who gets a boner while fighting would be disqualified.

So have they officially gave the next PPV this week free now? I don't keep up with every announcement made, but last I checked they still had it as a PPV event.
