I asked her when she got up to come into work and she said 3am.

3 FUCKING AM

If I had to do that and be in front of people that early i'd be ripping heads off and spitting down necks.

Contact sugar-high.

I remember hearing somewhere that Starbucks employee wages are decent, and they have crazy benefits for their employees. So it could be genuine joy.

Or she's just trying to work her way up the pecking order.

Starbucks does have decent wages and decent benefits for employees - I've heard a lot of folks that have enjoyed their tour of duty there, as long as you can handle a lot of orders at peak hours from stressed out, got-to-have-it-now white people.

I imagine what keeps them going is COFFEE MOAR JAVA OH THE CAFFEINE GOT TO HAVE IT!!!

Are the employees allowed to drink for free?

I'd imagine so.  Do you realize how many orders don't get sent out because they're the wrong, customer disassatisfaction, etc.?  Why pour it down the drain when you can incrase your natural high!

As far as I know, they are allowed to drink for free. I don't know that they can drink like special drinks for free though, it might just be your basic coffee.

I've heard the same thing about their benefits rocking though. Like if you can get past asshole customers, Starbucks is a great place to work.

"Decent" is probably pretty relative.  I think they are competitive with fast food joints, but you'd probably make better money as a waiter if you are going to work in the service industry.  Tips included, you probably won't do much better than $9-10/hour after a couple raises.

Benefits are excellent.  They will even provide health insurance for an opposite-sex domestic partner.  So all you have to do is shack up with somebody and they get covered.

I always wanted to work in a slaughterhouse cause the butchers get to eat FREE MEAT all the time. Hell they can even take FREE MEAT home but the only catch is that you can take only as much as you can carry with your arms.
It would feel pretty awkward eating something that you killed yourself.

well I'd want to be that guy who does the most dangerous part, has to take out the bladder and intestines or whatever while being careful not to let the crap spill onto the meat.  1 in 60 cows are spoiled this way but still processed.  If you're just the schmoe knocking them out with a pneumatic hammer, you've got no guarantee of getting untainted meat unless liver-man gives you the hook up.

so it could be both, manly and awkward.
