It was foreshadowed long ago.

I suppose this can be looked at positively. Itagaki will go onto work for another company or start up his own and continue to make the same type of games. And also if Team Ninja isn't broken up over this, then perhaps the Ninja Gaiden and Dead Or Alive games will continue on in a new direction.

DMC series is in no trouble. DMC4 might have not been that great, but DMC3 was amazing. DMC4 wasn't even DMC2 level of bad.

Sega needs him most. Sega has also been showing how awesome they are lately. Soon Shenmue 3 will be announced!

They do seem confused about what to do with the series, but I don't think it something so crucial that they need to shift the team and all that. I don't think it is worth giving up on yet.

Sega is far beyond retribution - even for the mightiness of Itagaki.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to what he does next. Ninja Gaiden is awesome, but it's the gameplay rather than the IP that makes the game. His influence in a new IP will be just as awesome, if not moreso.

It is very hard. I would say it is harder than God Hand, Ninja Gaiden, and DMC3. I haven't played it in a long time, but I do remember enjoying it quite a bit. I always thought it was like a second tier action game along with the Otogi games that were awesome, but lacked something that games like God Hand, Ninja Gaiden, and DMC had that mad them so great. While Shinobi is awesome, the "sequel" Kunoichi/Nightshade isn't nearly as good and like DMC > DMC2, they went to the extreme opposite with the difficulty and it became way too easy.

People are usually contracted on a per-project basis, I'd imagine that the people left over who didn't leave after NG2 mastered up would be reshuffled to something else.
