Wow, that was lame. Nice destruction I guess, but it certainly doesn't feel natural. I like the "ironsights" of some guns though, but what in the hell is up with the grain filter? Do they think this is Killzone or something? Nothing meshes.

Need to know how much they dumbed down (read: destroyed) BF for the console ADHD gamers.

For once, I am completely behind a post of yours.

It's still unmistakably Civ. If you have any interest in playing strategy games on a console, you really need to check out the demo. I highly approve of it, and you'd be hard pressed to find a more snobby PC strategy gamer on the entire internet.

It's terrible. I may remember BF and BF2 as being better than they really were, but this is pure shit. And honestly, I feel like I'm playing one of the Killzone 2 demos, which is to say that in spite of having great gun movement, awesome explosions and lots of destruction, it feels incredibly unsatisfying to play. :(

I'm more into Civ though, I'm gonna try that today.

COD4, for all its damned gun-on-a-stick crap, feels so much more satisfying. It never feels like the bullets connect here, and the gun motion makes everything feel disconnected as opposed to real, which is what I assume they were shooting for. Hell, even BF for Xbox was more satisfying than this garbage.

Oh yeah, and I managed to blow up what I assume was a grain silo, boom it went in a cloud, and the next moment it's completely gone with little more than dust to show for it. Black had more convincing destruction than this.

I don't have any interest, but a friend of mine who recently bought a PS3 loves Civ and was worried how Civ:Rev compared to it's PC brethren.

Also, I never liked the Battefield series from what little I played of it. Gunplay has always been total shit. The complete opposite of the COD series.

Yeah, that has nothing to do with gunplay. :P

But I'll admit that's the iteration I've truly barely played. I've heard good things, but I'm not sure if I want to bother.

I don't play COD4 anymore, anyway. I have too much to play as it is. I'm really not going to bother learning another multi FPS. I also don't know anyone who plays outside of #ga, and they only play once in a blue moon.

Edit: Actually, my friend has a copy. I could just borrow it from him. I'm sure he wouldn't care, since he didn't like the game.

Is the DS version of CivRev supposed to be any good? I'm not sure if I'd play this so much if I had to get up and pop the disc in every time, and PS360 is twice the price. The graphics in the DS version are atrocious but are all the options there?

If the DS version blows then I might get it on PS3, simply because it's easier to leave the disc in there for long spans of time :lol

I haven't played CivRev yet, but I think you guys are jaded bastards regarding BF:BC.  I like it.  Controls seem kind of eh, but I liked it overall.  I never cared for the others though.

No dude, it's just bad. Maybe I'm jaded, but then that's because this particular genre has quite a few gems, including previous Battlefield games. It's just not satisfying to play, and of course the MP feels limited as hell when compared to BF2.

Civilizations Revolutions, on the other hand, is awesome.

Well I didn't play Online.  It kept telling me no games were available ??? so I figured the server was borked.  But from the single player part, it can't be like a huge downgrade.  It just felt a little slow is all to me.

I really love the Civ Rev demo, but then again I've been a Civ whore for 16 years and running.  Civ Rev really feels like putting on an old, comfortable pair of shoes.  It may be a little streamlined but it's unmistakenly Civ....kinda like the SNES version of Sim City in that respect.  My only real complaint is the speed.  Just seems way faster than what I normally play at.

Day one though - probably on the PS3.

Civ Revo is fantastic - basically streamlined version of Civ 4. My only wish would be for a higher view of the world, it's difficult to get an idea what's going on without the constant movement.

Gameinformer gave Bad Company a 9.25. Now, I know this magazine is a bit dodgy when it comes to reviews (no, it really doesn't take a self-aware PC to run Gears PC at highest quality levels), but that still seems messed up.
