"This is a scarier Call of Duty than we've ever seen," Treyarch head Mark Lamir says in the mag.

To help simulate the Japanese's different style of warfare, Treyarch has completely re-tinkered the enemy AI in World at War. Instead of taking cover and flanking in traditional European battle strategies, the Japanese hide in trees, sneak through the overgrowth and scrabble, katana in hand in violent suicide attacks.

Scary Japs. Better slap them for war bonds and stamps.

according to research, around 38% of American POWs held by the japanese died, as opposed to 0.7% deaths of American POWS held by the germans

basically a soldier in WWII was better off being captured by the nazis than the japanese

and the pacific theater was a much broader campaign than the european theater, so it should look quite different

Excitingly, for the first time in Call of Duty's campaign 4-player co-op is supported over Xbox Live - and it supports meta game perks as in CoD4's excellent online mode.

so already COD5 > COD4  (bubububu it's modern reskins)

CoD3's multiplay was infinitely better than 2's on the 360.

I know all that, but still, it's pretty bad to make it seem like a survival horror.

COD3 is my favorite out of the console CODs for the multiplayer.  It was a lot like Wolfenstein: ET mixed with a touch of BF1942, and 24-player battles were great - the only problem was they set the entire game in one area of France so all the MP maps were a little "samey."

And it has the best line of dialogue in a cut scene EVER.  As they're saying goodbye, this greasy French resistance dude tells this soldier he's been bickering with "Votre mère a la syphilis."  Which means "Your mother has syphilis."   The soldier doesn't understand French and thinks the greasy dude is just wishing him well and says "Uh, yeah, good luck to you, too."

Yeah, the whole Vietnam angle is likely a lot harder to sell. WWII is, be it a simplified view or not, internationally recognized as a "good war", with an honorable alliance teaming up against the forces of evil. Vietnam is a hell of a lot murkier.
