I'm expecting a list of people we've never heard of a mile long getting pardoned for unacknowledged and unknown crimes (just like the telecoms were pardoned by Congress) right before GWB leaves office.  It's gonna be appalling... and constitutionally there's nothing to be done about it  :'(

I'm sorry if this'll ruin your meltdown FoC, but the American BAR association and the federal courts unanimously agreed that the second amendment only guarantees the right for people to have a gun if they are serving in a organized militia, that the constitution does NOT guarantee the right to own a gun for private purposes.

I personally have no problems with owning a gun if it's only a long gun and if you force every prospective owner to take a class, safety test, and psyche exam.  Then the gun nuts can be happy with hunting or some other form of penis compensation while gun crimes go down (since it is not possible to carry a shotgun or rifle everywhere with you).

Honestly, that's stupid as hell.

It made sense for the time.  It's twisted like hell today like how the NRA cuts out the first 13 words out (where it specifies state militias).  Of course the constitution isn't going to be perfect 250 years later when we have Apache helicopters and obviously, no state militias.  The second amendment just needs to be repealed and replaced with a law that allows long guns for self-defense.

I'd be all for actual strong gun control, but it's not gonna happen.  It's not politically feasible and even if it were there's a huge supply of guns already out there that wouldn't be affected by a crackdown on retailers.

Most criminals use cheap, disposable guns.  The most popular actually, the Lr-380, blows up in your hand after a couple hundred shots but it's the best choice for criminals.  If you ban the manufacturing of handguns, then gun crime would go down over the next several decades.  And no, guns would not come from Canada and Mexico.  Usually, it's the other way around.
