RE with dual analog?  No tank controls?  That's the sort of thing a non-gamer would say.

:bow Tank controls :bow2

how can anyone enjoy tank controls

I think it goes hand in hand with the slow pacing of survival horror (what little of it remains in RE4 anyway). A dual analog 3rd person shooter is really a different type of game.

Tank controls work well in RE whether fixed camera or RE4-style.  I understand not everyone likes them but if so, there are many dual analog 3rd person shooters around already.

Tank controls are so fucking bad. I'm with Prole on this. I really did not enjoy RE4 as much as most people because of how shitty they are.

So you guys are totally uninterested in RE5 as a result I guess?

It is a shame that the controls a hurdle for some, especially if you like the games otherwise.

I never liked RE until 4. I'm not uninterested -- I still enjoyed RE4. I just didn't think it was a revelation like a lot of gamers.

RE2 on N64 actually lets you use "regular" controls if you want to, and it's fucking horrible.  The static backgrounds in most PS1 games just did not work well with a typical control scheme.  Tank controls took a bit of getting used to, but it was still easy enough to master them (especially after quick-turns came into the picture).  Nowadays, I don't I could do without them.  Newer games that use them like RE4 and Godhand just move too fast to make the controls ideal, and you end up feeling hindered while you play.

I agree regarding that the faster action of RE4 plus tank controls presented a new challenge -  I guess I viewed it as a mechanic of the game that had to be learned and exploited.

You certainly have to be mindful of your position in relation to enemies, which was not so much the case in previous REs.

That's fair enough.
