No power until FRIDAY NIGHT

Last night the power went out which wasn't entirely unexpected. But then we get hit with a major storm and possibly a microburst. Trees that have stood for close to a hundred years literally just got ripped out of the ground and took sidewalk with them. An enormous iron planter we had in the backyard got tipped over- I don't think I could push it over if I tried. It took 3 of us to lift it back up. Totally crazy, but now we don't have power until tommorrow night. Hotels are totally booked so it looks like we're in for another night of grilling whatever didn't spoil and then sleeping on the kitchen floor. At least it'll be cooler tonight. Crazy.

Not my house, thankfully. Half of my neighbor's roof blew off, we got lucky somehow and no significant damage except for a couple of plants.

I work in Bergen County, I'm home now cause our power went out while they were fixing issues elsewhere.  WAHAHAHAHAHA I'M FREE!!

Yea, that was lucky for whoever lived in that house. I remember the last bad storm that came through GA. It destryoed like 7 transformers and popped some substation parts and it took 4 days for the power company to get power back to us. (Luckily I was away for job training, but it still sucked for roommate).

Up here where I live, I don't hafta worry about flooding, but the wind oh god the wind.

I have seen a gust of wind that contained so much rain one could not see the columns on my front porch from the window 6 feet away. It yanked the top of a tree out that had two trees in front of it.

And this would be the reason why the area I live in plain don't have any big trees. Then again, Ann Arbor always seem to be spared from the brunt of storms around here.

Just a shitty week. I spent all of today putting together office furniture from Ikea, I get on a bus at 5, go to DC and I have a conference tomorrow, but then I need to be back here at midnight tomorrow. Ugh But the confrence should be fun and next week should be much more lax, but thanks for the pity. It was definitley a crappy week, but hopefully I got it all out of the way for the rest of the month!

Holy shit!

Our power goes out here a lot when there are bad storms and stuff. It's not like 10 minutes away where Ecro lives, but just my neighborhood. The sun shines too brightly and my block loses power, it seems. Always pisses me off so much because I have this awesome fish tank with some expensive reef inhabitants.
