I pick Alex Murphy.  He's tough on crime and is not a political insider.  Plus, he will work well with McCain's cabinet members, which will be made up of The McCain Girls.

I voted for Romney, but I would settle for Huckabee also.  Either would just further tank Johnny Short Arms in November, and the stench of failure on them would help defeat either in 2012.

I like Palin because she really signifies what a reborn GOP could look like circa 2012-14.

But, he'll probably pick Jindal to appease the religionists.

I could see Huckabee being the VP.  It will be a desperate attempt to circle the religious fundie wagons, even though this support has long since crumbled, with 2004 being their peak year, and the erosion of their power was prevalent in 2006.  Huckabee's message is just different enough to differentiate himself from the other fundie GOP members that used Jesus as a way to get into office and pass shady shit.  He seems a lot more gentler although he is a firebreathing Christian.

Romney is another good choice but I'm not sure what bringing him in will do.  Romney was considered an unusual candidate in the first place.

I have a feeling they will just pick a faceless, nameless Neocon that had a high position on Reagan's cabinet, like they did with George W.  The appeal of a powerful Reaganite might keep some of the strands of the GOP from coming entirely loose.  With most of them getting old, this is probably the last opportunity they will get.

You mean Bobby Jindal, possible exorcist?  Yeah, you better hope not.  Of course, I personally think Old Man McCain is going to get destroyed no matter what he does, so maybe sinking a potential future GOP star would be an added benefit!

Huck would secure the religio vote but would annoy conservatives. And on the opposite side Romney would secure economic conservatives but annoy religio voters. I really doubt Romney would put Michigan in play. When he came here he really seemed out of place in the factories and stuff, plus many don't consider him a true Michigan "son" or whatever.

What about Jindal? He's a right wing crazy, dunno if he's christian but that should please those people. Plus conservatives like him right?

Pee Dee- Jindal is a crazy ass Catholic convert.  That apparently helped exorcise a demon from a fellow college student, with the exorcism having the side benefit of curing her cancer!  Which means he's right up your homeskoold alley, of course!

Honestly I didn't know anything about him until his name started floating around as a VP candidate a few months ago. A few google and youtube searches provided some rather scary results.

Tim Pawlenty seems like a good pick also, simply for the "look at me i'm just like you hurr" act that's needed. He's got executive experience, he's into clean energy (and has worked with democrat governors on it), seems like the type who'd be popular in the mid west, etc. Not scary, at least to regular Americans I'd guess

Sarah Palin is not a good choice.  She's still only into her first term as a Governor, and I hate to say it, but she'd get murdered by the press if she were put into the national spotlight.  She's still best known here for being a former mayor and prom queen.  Yes, she's world's better then our last Republican governor, but he was so bad his successor had nowhere to go but up (Bush syndrome).
She's unknown to the rest of the country, she's from Alaska, which is solidly Republican (and puny) anyways, and besides having breasts and ovaries has no qualifications for being on the big ticket.

Also, my Midwestern gf swears that Pawlenty is not so well liked in his own state, so maybe he's not the savior of McCain's presidential campaign either.

I figure putting Christine Whitman on the ticket would accomplish basically the same stuff as Palin.  Whitman's pro-choice though, which would make it a much more direct FU to the Republican base and McCain ain't going there.

Its the nightmare scenario. Dude's a complete loon. No abortion under any circumstance? Pfft...

That's why I'd like McCain to pick someone who's moderate on either abortion or gay rights. Palin fits the gay rights thing. Mandark says Whitman fits the abortion thing. They'd both be fine with me. I'd rather the GOP lose every election than be associated with Christianist morality movements.

I've always loved this reverse prejudice by leftists, which puts blacks in a box and then questions their racial identity if they even dare consider thinking for themselves. What has the democratic party done lately to deserve the default support of blacks? I'm no conservative, but all the black conservatives I know who aren't religious are pretty sharp, even if I disagree with them. They have to be

Im sure the left loves having sheep constantly vote for them and pander to them while offering nothing. Like PeeDee said the black republicans that are out there are very sharp and are some of my favorite republicans to watch on  the talk shows.

I'm sure this completely obliterates your simple view of politics, but not everyone of the same color acts and thinks the same way.

I wonder if the racist vote will be negated if McCain picks a black VP. It's a lose lose situation for racists: if Obama wins he brings colored greens and corn bread to the White House. If McCain wins and dies of cancer old age a black man still becomes president.

Isn't that collard greens?

McCain could choose Alan Keyes.  He is strongly against affirmative action and disowned his lesbian daughter, instead of Dick Cheney's fence sitting action regarding gays.

True, I love the tone of this election so far: if you condescend towards Obama (tried-and-true campaign assholery) even the tiniest bit, you're racist and using race as a wedge--but it's open season for saying McCain pisses himself while having Vietnam flashbacks four times before crossing the street.  Everything's "silly season" and "distractions" until you realize you can recycle old Reagan jokes with a McCain face.

But yeah go... go Obama. Yay... Obama.
