Is rumble necessary for MGS4?
« on: June 12, 2008, 01:27:43 PM »
I've yet to get a DS3 since the PS3 library is a big pile of shit.  Would it affect my MGS4 experience if I"m just using a Sixais?

I can't imagine a MGS without rumble. What a world that would be.

Not really.  I like rumble but I don't need it.

My question is more about how rumble might affect gameplay.  In some old Jap games, you need rumble to know when special items are lying around.

I just played through an hour of MGS4 and the Solid Eye points out items lying around (via little floating tags). Also, If remember correctly, the past MGS used the rumble to gauge stress and how close an enemy is to you. In MGS4, theres other things (like the threat meter) that make it so rumble isn't needed. Basically, Kojima and Co. made sure that you wouldn't need rumble.

Without spoilers, is there any Psycho Mantis like cutscenes that we would miss out on without rumble?

Trying to decide if I want to splurge and get the 40gb or save another week and get the 80gb.

No idea but the 80gb bundle is the way to go in this case.

Fuck the sixaxis.

been playing for like 3 hours without rumble.  i've been fine.  i'm sure they thought about the fact that most ps3 owners don't have rumble

rumble is amazing in this game....the environmental rumbles and the weapon rumbles are all very distinct...its realy worthwhile IMO.

So they ARE NOT including DS3 standard with PS3's now? :(
