The recent batch of MS Windows updates...
« on: June 17, 2008, 01:25:02 PM »
...have completely fubared my laptop.

For a period of about 3 or 4 weeks back in May there seemed to be some new update almost everyday. Now, about half the time I turn on my laptop the mouse freezes at start up. So, I have to turn it on again and again (sometimes 7-8 times!) to get it to work.

Explorer takes about 10 minutes before it runs like it should.

And the Zune software...holy fuck. It now crawls. My laptop only has 512 kb of RAM, so that may have something to do with it. But, before the updates everything worked relatively quickly with it.

The computer is using so much processing power now I rarely can even get the task manager to open. When it does its generally running at 80%+.

Anyone else having any issues? My dad's computer is also running significantly slower. Any tips on what I could try to fix this?

I have XP Pro as well but I haven't noticed any of those problems on my rig.  You've scanned for spyware/malware?

Its not any of that, I've had a lot of users complaining about the same thing here.

Hmm, well circle my nuts with gravy, idk then I'm not really a computer genius but there are a lot more qualified people here at EB.  Hopefully one of them can spread some light on the matter.  :maf

Aaaaaaand now I can't burn the new Coldplay album to a disc.

Does about two or three songs then quits. Never had this problem before.  :-\
