Oh my God don't ever touch it when you see it on shelves next week!

This game is so bad and stupid, it's just a string of completely over the top set pieces. It's got NOTHING in common with the cerebral horror games of yore. The camera is absolutely awful, the characters some of the most horrid ones in the history of gaming, you can barely ever understand how the controls work and what the hell you're supposed to do in the environments, and just moving around is a pain in the ass... I could go on and on... I guess that the shadows are pretty sweet but I can hardly think of anything tolerable in this turd.

I wish I had my blank disk back, 1,25$ that I'll never see again.

There's a dutch review out there and the game has gotten 3/10. Seems like even the Uwe Boll movie is better than it.

I hope this bankrupts both Atari AND Infogrames for good.

like RE4 but about ten times as bad... and that's when the game isn't going through a huge QTE shitfest, with no actual QTEs shown on screen... these are ridiculously scripted set pieces where you must figure out what the hell to do before you die while other horrid characters harass you with uninteresting one-liners

The only scary thing about this game is the game itself.
It's just a horrible game with horrendous excecution.

Avoid it like the plague. Or rent it for the pretty cool achievements.

Already the most disappointing game of 2008.

Wasn't the lead designer on this like, a GIGANTIC AITD fan from the very beginning? I think I heard on some 1up podcast that making this game was a dream come true for him.

the mechanics in this game are COMPLETELY BROKEN, in the dutch review he says that the first hour of the game is like trying to move through a torrent of syrup, in Haze which most of you haven't played moving, shooting, aiming, an all the other control elements worked smoothly and precisely no matter what you thought of the actual content

Atari hasn't sent its game in advance to media outlets, there's basically zero other reviews on gamerankings, isn't that a telltale sign that something's very wrong if Atari doesn't trust its own game to reviewers? in terms of quality it's nothing like Test Drive Unlimited

yeah it looked very cool in the preview videos but when you try to actually play it it's basically unplayable

it's not scary at all you don't really have any freedom! and all the characters sound like huge douchebags, it's like watching an incredibly bad B-grade sci-fi miniseries with no redeeming features whatsoever

Awesome. Also, if GAF hates it there's a pretty good chance it's good.

Reading a bit about it, it looks like the sort of game where if you approach it with the right mindset, the shortcomings won't ruin it.

We actually got an application, I think it was for the position as intern with the 3d department, in which the applicant bragged about his extensive experience with 3d environments, meaning that he had played many 3d games. And I don't think it was an attempt at humor either.

The new Alone in the Dark is a horrible game; if you see it on a store shelf next week, don't even think about touching it. Stay away!

This Alone in the Dark installment doesn't have anything in common with the series' more cerebral prequels. It's incredibly stupid and consists of nothing but over-the-top set pieces. The camera is awful; the characters are horrid, some of the worst in videogame history; and the controls are incomprehensible. The environments are confusing and painful to traverse in. I could go on and on with my complaints. The only positive thing about the game is the shadows.

I want the $1.25 I spent on a blank disc to pirate Alone in the Dark back. Basically, I'm a stupid pirate and hope that my piracy bankrupts Atari, Inforgames, and any other company that invest millions of dollars to create videogames.

Yeah. Gamestop called and said both this and Bad Company were out Tuesday afternoon. I never even pre-ordered Bad Company, I don't get why they called for it. I hope by then there are more reviews or gameplay footage.
