Dummies
« on: June 18, 2008, 04:05:03 PM »
My department at work (I work in the IT department at a college) offers free PC troubleshooting for all faculty, staff, and students on campus.

Some girl dropped her laptop off here two days ago with a note saying:
Please download Excel onto computer. Cannot log into Sharepoint without it.
Visa: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX     Exp: XX/XX     Code on back: XXX

I just happened to pick up the paper today to take a look at the problem. The laptop has been sitting in a very public room for the past two days, and fuck only knows if anyone's taken her card number.

Some people are fucking idiots.

You should buy something you've been wanting/needing with it (not really). But yea, thats stupid. If someone did do that she deserves it. The bank would likely not give her the money back either if they found out since most banks/credit card companies have a clause stating that it is your responsibility to protect your data. They understand people who steal the info when you use it, but writing on a piece of paper and putting it in a public room? Just stupid.

Very, very stupid.

I seriously debated posting it up on 4chan, but lord knows it'd come back to haunt me.

What do you need Excel for Sharepoint for?

no clue myself. I'm still in shock that the idiot left her card info on a piece of paper for the world to see. Or keep.

maybe for a class?  dunno.  a lot of people just do it because sending out your shit in excel is pretty easy and quite the standard and also it's easy to build graphs in excel that way.

i prefer crystalreports though.

Wow, what a dummy.

As it turns out, she was going to the wrong class site, so she was getting "You are not authorized" errors when she logged in.

On top of that, her teachers are dummies because they told her she needed to install Excel for it to work.

Fucking dumbasses everywhere.
