I spent an hour trying to replay this game last night and it's really indefensible. Matsuno or no, this thing is a grade-A turd.

I liked the characters and setting but it drags. I think I'm right before Giruvegan and have been for like two years now.

the characters are wasted. outside of BASCH OF DALMASCA DON'T BELIEVE ONDORE'S LIES!, ashe is the only other relevant character. ff12 is very pretty and very stylish, but as tvc says, it's a turdy turdy turdturd. play p3 fes instead!

When does FFIV come out in English for DS? I'd like to try that out--never played the original in any form.

FF4 comes out on 7/22

and I don't think much of anything of Matsuno's survived to the final version. the gameplay is strait FF11, and apparently the story was changed greatly - it was originally supposed to center around Basch's redemption.

Would've been a bit, but not much, better if they called it 'Vagrant Story 2'... the whole game is a game of nothing, I played 80 hours of it and it was one of the most forgettable RPG experiences of my life. Hardly anything happened in the story, dungeons are about as repetitive in graphics as an 8 bit RPG, and the battle system blew.

Agreed. I still think it's a decent game (think B- 1up style).

I enjoyed it but that has a lot to do with hating RPG mechanics since I started playing WoW. I just can't stand random turn-based battles anymore so settings gambits and basically ignoring battles while I explored dungeon maps and destroyed everything in sight was appealing.

I couldn't help but want a much harder game, classes, enemies with aggro lists, and a mini programming language instead of gambits, though. WoW heroics without LFG essentially.

I've put over 120 hours into this baby. Enjoyed every minute of it.

Well, changes during development don't necessarily = fucked game. Vagrant Story had a ton of stuff changed and cut too. With FF12 though, the project's much larger staff appeared to have made it much more problematic.

ffx is a hot girlfriend who's fun to fuck and easy to talk to, even if she can be a bit emo sometimes.

ffxii is the not so hot girlfriend with a furry tail, who only likes to finger herself and only talks with you about the weather.

fxii's areas aren't tight, either!
