Finally getting down to the Zelda: Oracles duo
« on: June 20, 2008, 09:52:13 PM »
Now that LA is out of the way, I only have these two Zeldas that I need to only finish. Decided to start with Seasons first. Just beat the first temple, and at the very least it seems a smidge harder than the stupid easy first few dungeons in LA. Hopefully that's a good sign.

I think they are at the bottom when it comes to Zelda games (Phantom Hourglass fell beneath them), but they are still great.  And you just came off one of the best Zelda games, so they may not seem nearly as good in comparison.

Capcom was great at making 2D Zelda games.  It is a shame that Nintendo had to go and fuck it up with Phantom Hourglass.  I still laugh at  the people saying it was the best Zelda game.

man fuck these games.  i tried playing the red one, and got to the sixth dungeon.  i picked up a key, but then had to save & quit.  i load up my game later, wander around and find a door to unlock, and then i have to save & quit again.  i reload and realize that i opened the wrong door and now i can't continue and I FUCKING SAVED SO NOW I AM SCREWED.  what kind of half-ass design is that?  F U CRAPCOM

Yep, best Zelda titles, I love both of them so much. I haven't played them in years, might have to change that soon.

LA>Oracles

LTTP=overrated

Oracles are definitely more challenging though...well at least seasons. Time is pretty straight forward. Love them both, but I adore LA. I've probably beaten it 100 times if not more. And the music omg. ballad of the wind fish <3

I completely forgot that these titles even existed. I just started replaying LTTP the other day, too. I'll have to download these. How long are they?

Omg a song of storms remix. :bow2

People weren't kidding when they said these were full of fanservice.

Opinions on these games seem to be positive for the most part, mostly due to the fact that they're not really talked about much, hence they avoid most of the 'overrated' backlash of the other major Zeldas. But the biggest complaint I heard was that these were rom hacks of LA. It doesn't feel like that at all, and I think I actually like the art direction in these better.

Seasons is great so far. I can't believe the same director for these games was partly responsible for PH, tho. :x

Probably the hardest Zelda games since 2... some challenging puzzles and monster encounters that actually take life off of you. My only real complaint about these games is that moving through the overworld can get to be annoying, as each section of the overworld seems to be like making your way through mini-dungeons... instead of fairly open fields like in the other Zelda games. Which some people really like.

Loved the puzzle one, action one was ok.

I'd love to see these games on the DS. I never finished Phantom Hourglass but the controls were very good. Wouldn't mind them being implemented into a beefed up Oracles port

F that, son! The games control fine the way they are. Don't need any needless touchscreen gimmickry.

Which is which?  I always meant to play these, but couldn't get into them at the time.  And yes, they do come off as Link's Awakening hack jobs.  :P  Wouldn't mind trying them now.

LA>Oracles

LTTP=overrated

My favorites are A Link To The Past and Link's Awakening.  But the best "Zelda" is Landstalker.   ;)

The Zelda game that's easily the most overrated is the Ocarina Of Time.  :yuck

Sorry man, but I've never heard of not being able to complete a dungeon in a Zelda game.  You missed something.
