...walking into a public restroom and realizing all the lights are off?

I just got back from class, but before I headed home I went to the bathroom that's in the business school. Once I opened the door, I saw it was pitch black. This isn't the first time I've walked into a dark restroom either. I found the light switch rather quickly, but I still couldn't help but be a little alarmed. My senses automatically heightened in the situation, and my body seemed to be pumping adren just in case.

Anyone else have this experience, or a similar experience where you walk into a room/situation that seems suspect, and your body starts getting ready for flight and/or flight?

Someone probably just turned the light off when they were leaving out of habit. But, ya, it gives me a creepy feeling.

You'd think guys, especially all these over macho black guys, would stay out of prison out of fear of this shit. But people don't seem to care, and I've heard many "aw man, no one gets raped in prison. That's a myth!" comments from these people lol.

My dad has a dental practice, but he's also a head dentist at a state penitentiary/"mental facility".

guys get more like psychologically intimidated to have gay sex over the course of their sojourn, they aren't exactly raped by force since they'd get noticed by the guards

but no one in prison, or any ex-con will ever admit to having done it in real life not to be known as a cigarillo

Obviously the issue has been run with by Hollywood and myths, but in the end the situation is very real. It's similar to sexual abuse by priests. Sex is a basic physiological need, and when it is taken away or repressed over long periods of time, the body and mind suffers.

You better believe rape is rampant in many prisons. It ties directly into the problem of HIV in the black community, as does the "down low" issue.

i remember a great thread on some Canadian forum done by some ex-Toronto prison guardian that described what life was like in prison, and many posts dealt with gay intimidation

ill go find it back (seeing as you're a great fan of the subject)
