Just had one of the weirdest PM exchanges ever (guy on CAG)...

Alright, I posted on CAG forums (cheapassgamer.com) that I have Lost Planet Colonies for sale.  I got a PM from someone interested and he offered $25 shipped and also had a list of games, I told him I'd take the $25.  Here are the PM's... this has all taken place yesterday and really early this morning.

Is that Lost Planet Colonies the 2nd part to Lost Planet or is it the original?

Colonies is the new edition that just released a couple weeks ago. I paid $29.99 retail for it. Brand new condition

What would you want to trade for it?

Alright, I think I found the source of all this confusion. Look at my 2nd PM to you. The one where I first mention Battlefield. Here is the sentence you got confused on:

"If you would buy it from me, that would be awesome."

^ That sentence was referring to Lost Planet Colonies, meaning "it would be awesome if you would buy LPC from me". You misread that sentence as: "If you would buy it FOR me"... thinking I was referring to Battlefield.

I'm a trader over there (BostonCollegeFan) and have been trading for years, have a shit load of feedback and sometimes this happens.

A while ago on CAG I traded a decently old 360 game for Splinter Cell Double Agent when it first came out. The deal was going good and everything when the guy said "Oh shit bro I lost the manual to the game". Knowing that I hate not having manuals and didn't want to get into a huge feud (because I already sent my game to him), I just said "Its okay man, don't worry about it". Instead, three days later, he sent me a pm saying "Hey man, just went to bestbuy.com and bought you a brand new copy of Double Agent because of the missing manual thing. It should arrive at your house in a few days"

So the guy spent $120 on a trade for like a $40 game. Low and behold about a week later, a package from bestbuy.com shows up, brand new DA. People are crazy over there.

Particle, that was another thing I was wondering.  Does he know LPC is only $30?  Yes, I think he does because his money offer to me was $25, so he must know the value of it compared to BFBC.

He's prob in the same situation that I was as a child; abundance of money, but mother is anti-internet purchasing (hence the no paypal) and he has to rely on wal-mart who rarely ever stocks anything that isn't a big name franchise so he figured he would rather spend the money on BFBC and get LP via a trade.

Actually the more I think about it, the more this supposed kid sounds like me when I first started trading. I used to make alot of crazy deals because my wal-mart (which I still rely on today, nearest store other than wal mart is 3 hours away) never stocked anything. I've owned about 4 ipods and 3 psp's because I would constantly trade my psps for ipods and vice versas.

I'd go as far as to PM a mod over there the whole convo ust to keep your name in the clear, if that's what you're worried about. You can always offer him the difference after the trade has been sent if it keeps nagging you, or send him something else you dont play anymore as a "bonus".

I had about 120 feedback there (before I deleted my account), it was mostly from stuff I sold for less than ebay prices or trades from when I first joined before every single person on the site was looking to get the upper hand on a deal vs. Ebay prices.  Trading there takes too much time and negotiation since everyone's trying to be slick or is too afraid of getting ripped off (not that they should get ripped off, but they shouldn't sweat it when something has $5 more of an average ebay value than your game.)

oh and then there are illiterate distinguished mentally-challenged fellows like the OP is dealing with (but that's more of a symptom of teens kinda taking over the site.)

That's very cool of you.  I had a good CAG experience like that, actually.  I traded with a guy and he sent me a bunch of worthless PS2 games along with what I traded for. IIRC, it was Siren, those crappy Agetec RPGs, and some others.  He just didn't want them, but they snagged me a few bucks off a purchase at GS.  It was just random, I wasn't telling him to rip me off beforehand or anything
