Awesome.  Hopefully Kratos is less of a emo cocksucker this time.

Meh, hopefully it amounts to more than just rage. I loved the first God of War, great production values all around and I fucking adored the blind rage and fittingly over the top combat. But God of War II felt pretty forced. Good game, and hadn't I played God of War I probably would have loved it to death, but God of War III needs to introduce some new reasons for the fight.

With the way things have went in God of War II, I wonder if this series isnt supposed to really be about the destruction of both the titans and gods and the downfall of the greek god system. I mean, with all the deaths that have happened, its ugly. I mean, Aries, Athena, the Fates, and countless heroes and creatures of lore.

Maybe Kratos makes a deal with Satan to bring his family back to life if he kills Jesus and a bunch of angels. He gets betrayed and now he must kill Satan and take his place as RULER of hell.

Couldnt he, since according to 2 he has control of time now that he controls the fate's portal, go back and stop it himself? (Yes I know that'd be a huge paradox.)

I'm pretty sure that that IS the story.

Still, killing the Fates is a bit too far.

honestly its been a long time since iread up on greek mythology, so if they all killed each other in a second battle or something then thats cool. Its just that i never remembered that from history classes so the game seemed kinda way too far into it to me. And yes, killing the fates was indeed too far. :)

See, the guys at Santa Monica actually interpreted and spun the mythology in a way that made for a cool game within the context of that mythology, with great atmosphere, set pieces and a focus on taking the good bits and making this brutal, awesome game out of it. For as much as it contradicts the progress of the original mythos, it felt perfectly in line with it. Another story told, in a proper style. Makes me dislike even more the god damned "Aesir Crystal of the Ratatosk princess" bullshit that comes out of Japan, or the Shakespeare robots clink clonk crap that SK considers a good homage to its chosen mythology.

No, the myths themselves never said that they all died in a battle, I'm pretty sure that that's what GoW is going for: Kratos is responsible for the fall of the Greek mythos.

But seriously, killing the Fates? Even the gods fear the Fates. You can't kill the Fates.

Yeah, I just started playing this again recently and I noticed this as well. It seems like Kratos is only able to yell, even though all the other characters are speaking in a subdued (i.e. normal) voice.

I agree on the fates thing. But I'm guessing they go for all destroyed with 3. That or Kratos is really just living out a long dying moment and is really going to die permanently and none of 2 or three actually happened/happens.

yeah some of the stuff they said in 2 made it sound like the events of the game had already happened before.  i don't really care about the plot that much, but i hope they don't overdo with time travel bs in 3.

I am really curious to see if they will mix up the gameplay at all.  Not to say that I am bored of it or anything.  Even after GoW1 and 2, I still really enjoyed CoO.

Oh god, this.
If GoW was Itchy & Scratchy, GoW II was Poochie.  Most of the boss fights fuckin' sucked too.
